Alnwick Castle

Alnwick Castle has been the home of the Percy Family since 1377. The interior of the castle bears no relationship to it's gothic exterior The inside is an Italian palace rich in 18th century paintings, porcelain and furniture. All this was mainly created by the fourth Duke of Northumberland, making Alnwick the outstanding "stately home" in Northumberland.

In recent times it has become popular as a film set. Th first two Harry Potter films being partly shot here.

As a footnote, Alnwick is pronouced "annick" and the river Aln "alan".
