LYRICS

Rain ~ Montrel Darrett

You cry but understand
It hurts but you're a man
And who's to say that it's over
I may not feel what you feel
But I'm glad to know the feeling is real
You may as well face the pain
'Cause that is surely what we call the rain

If it's gonna rain
Let it rain
'Cause after while that sun's gon' shine
You gon' see I'm gon' be alright
Trouble don't last always
God gon' make everything okay
So let it rain, rain
Let it rain

Oh cry, it's not so bad
Can't miss a friend that you never had
I know they let you down,
but it ain't the end, not the end
Don't you know and can't you see
What concerns you sho' 'nough concerns me
You've had enough it's about to wreck your brain
But behind the dark cloud, the sun out shines the rain

Rain, rain go away
Won't you come again some other day
But I have to deal with the struggle rain brings
Raindrops keep falling on my head
There's a brighter day
Rain, let it rain

One Is The Magic # ~ Jill Scott

If I multiply 2x2 is it really 4 me
And if I add 5 to 9 minus 8
That leaves just me
So many times I defined my pride
Through somebody else's eyes
Then I looked inside and found my own stride
I found a lasting love for me
If I am searching for my spirituality passionately
I must begin with me
There's just me
One is the magic #
If I add myself unto myself
Multiply times you and yours and you again
There's just me
And if I divide 8 billion 48 trillion 98 zillion There is just me
If I subtract 1 + me to the 5th degree
Use any theorem
There's just me
One is the magic #

The Best Of What’s Around ~ DMB

Hey my friend
It seems your eyes are troubled
Care to share your time with me
Would you say you're feeling low and so
A good idea would be to get it off your mind

See you and me
Have a better time than most can dream
Have it better than the best
So we can pull on through
Whatever tears at us
Whatever holds us down
And if nothing can be done
We'll make the best of what's around

Turns out not where but who you're with
That really matters
And hurts not much when you're around
And if you hold on tight
To what you think is your thing
You may find you're missing all the rest

Well she ran up into the light surprised
Her arms are open
Her mind's eye is

Seeing things from a
Better side than most can dream
On a clearer road I feel
Oh you could say she's safe
Whatever tears at her
Whatever holds her down
And if nothing can be done
She'll make the best of what's around

Turns out not where but what you think
That really matters
We'll make the best of what's around

POEMS

Don't Quit

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to sail, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must - but don't you quit.
Life is strange with it's twists and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up, though the pace seems slow -
You might succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than,
it seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor's cup.
And he learned too late, when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out -
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt -
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight, when you're hardest hit -
It's when things seem worst, that you mustn't quit

Take Time

Take Time to THINK, it is the Source of Power.
Take Time to PLAY, it is the Secret of Perpetual Youth.
Take time to READ, it is the Foundation of Wisdom.
Take Time to WORSHIP, it is the Highway to Reverence.
Take time to be FRIENDLY, it is the Road to Happiness.
Take time to LAUGH, it is the Music of the Soul.
Take time to DREAM it is Hitching you Wagon to a Star.

Take Time to LIVE.

MARDI GRAS 2001

A couple of friends and I decided
to venture to New Orleans, Louisiana in
February 2001... and take part in the
         Mardi Gras festivities...
      It was a blast!!!
       (Yes, my hair was blue)

We spent most of our nights on Bourbon
Street partying the night away in bars
and clubs... and spent most of our days
        sleeping, sight-seeing, and shopping.

The parades were cool... we went to one
on St. Charles, but we didn't see the
Real World house while we were there
        (there's always next year)...
We earned/caught a lot of beads during
our trip.. Needless to say we met many
        interesting people.
