| Introduction to things you'll see here : QuickScat, ASAR, Significant Wave Ht.&Dir. |
QuickScat (Scaterometer) Is a satellite-derived product that sends signals to the ocean floor and senses wind speed and direction. Arrows depict direction as well as the length depict speed
ASAR (Advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar) In General this is usually a gray-scale image, of radar signals that are projected to earth from a special satellite that bounce off and scatter with different angels. as a rule of thumb flat surfaces are usually darker, while roughened areas are usually lighter. I've done some image tricks of my own on these images to make them more realistic-looking where I negative the image then emboss them to bring out subtle texture I label all as "modified". The one cool thing about these images are the ability to see beneath the clouds and rain of a hurricane and scan the roughness of the seafloor
Significant Wave Ht. and Dir. : Shows the height in colors and arrows denote direction.
