in every one of thease shots, the tornado is in progress, just that in the upper-left-most photos are before the NWS zoomed into the cell by magnifing the scope-range. the appendage that looks like a arm-hook is the wrap-around precipitation for which the funnel is located. You can learn much as to what to look out for more by searching the phrase "hook echo".
