Candace Bushnell

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Candace Bushnell is author of the popular bestseller Sex and the City. Bushnell first put the singles scene into print in 1994 as The New York Observer's resident "Sex and the City" columnist. The column examined her own life (through the voice of her alter-ego, Carrie) and the lives of her friends, acquaintances, and New York City's social elite. Born and raised in the small Connecticut town of Glastonbury, Bushnell attended Rice University before transferring to New York University. During her years as an undergraduate and an aspiring actress, she began covering the Studio 54 scene for a magazine called Beat. She went on to become a freelance writer and was published in several magazines including Self and Mademoiselle. Today Bushnell continues to write stories that flirt with the fine line between journalism and fiction and to offer a personal account of living among Manhattan's elite. Her second book, Four Blondes, also a New York Time's best-seller, was recently released in 2001.
