Interstate 290 is the main route between the western suburbs and Downtown Chicago. Rarely on a Chicago traffic report, will you here I-290. It is named the Dwight D. Eishenhower Expressway , from the Circle Interchange to the Tri-State Tollway. Then from the Tri-State to the North-South Tollway, it is refered to as the 290 extention.
