SEPTEMBER 2, 2003 Well after twenty days removed from the talent draft the Seattle Mariners are leading the division by two games witha 39-24 record. The trading has also been booming over the past few days for the mariners. With the biggest aquisition being that of the only 500 homerun 500 stolen base man in baseball's history. That's right, Cooperstown himself, Barry Bonds. Also former Seattle closer Keith Foulke was added back to the Mariner's roster and Chone Figgins was also traded to Seattle and sent down to the Tacoma Rainers for some experience. These comments were made by the Mariners head office. "We are very excited about having an offensive threat like Barry in here who is having a great season already. He'll fit in real way batting with Cruz, Giambi, Mondesi and Sanders. Keith Foulke will make another excellent set-up man for Billy Wagner, maybe to take a little weight off Percival's shoulders as well. Chone Figgins has incredible speed, we can't wait for him to be able to use it next season, or possibly even he may be called up for pinch running use during play off time." Seattle would also like to wish the following former players good luck on their new teams: -OF Shawn Green (Chicago Cubs)
