Industrial Revolution: The Industrial Revolution began in Britain. The agriculture increased and made more food available to the people. Less people died because everyone was well fed and in one hundred years the population doubled. As a result, more people did not have jobs. Britain had enough factories and finances to support new machines. Also many natural resources were accessible in Britain. The final cause was that people were attracted by wealth and willing to try new machines. The overall result was the Industrial Revolution. When the people in Britain made more machines and industries, the other countries of Europe saw and began to make their own. Soon afterwards, the cities became industry foundations as the factories were built and most of the people lived in the cities. Modern cotton factories were built that worked more cotton and prepared cotton faster than before. Because of the extra cotton, new looms were made to work more. The looms used the additional amounts of cotton and made much more cotton material. Mechanical pumps were invented that drained water much faster than before. They made mining possible below sea level since they kept the water from flooding the mines. Because of the deeper mines, much more coal was brought up. The steam engine was invented and carried other inventions to more countries. The steam engine was possible because of all the extra coal and the new railroads that were being built. This was encouraged even more when higher quality iron was discovered. This cheaper metal encouraged the new inventions even further. Britain was quickly industrialized since it was easy to cross, but Europe and America were harder to cross. That was true until the new railroads were built. They allowed transportation of supplies and inventions to other countries where the ideas inspired new inventions. With the railroads came more roads and canals that allowed more communication and transportation. Britain used the new inventions to gather a lot of wealth and a better economy. They held the Great Exhibition to display all of their success in the Crystal Palace. The new factories gave workers regular work hours and employees. The culture had drastically changed, but it was for the better.
