The sorry sorry story of the most pathetic war thread ever!
So. Where to start? It's rather like a landscape painter faced with the cityscape of a large city. There are so many
possibilities, potential starting points, that it seems troublesome. Well, I think I'll start chronologically: when I decided
to join in the war in the first place.
The Seventh Trumpet is a device and station on the Kuiper Belt I had been building in September, prior to the Automagfreek
war. The thread isn't in the archive, since I'm not a moderator. Yet despite the fact I have never before done anything
without vast amounts of research and IC lead-up posting, I automatically get accusations such as:

And in Scolopendra's post: "Sure, we'll let you suddenly pull out this Big Giant Gun from absolutely nowhere." Well sorry I'm
not in a faction that controls moderators and therefore cannot get my threads archived (not that I knew I neede d to til after half were gone).
Anyway. My opportunistic nation sees two factions it thoroughly dislikes jump each other, and decides which one it dislikes
more (the 'AIs' that claim to have 'souls' and turn men into machines seems an obvious choice). Both factions are big enough
that a war against them, per se, would be too potentially damaging to go with IC. However it is relatively easy to join
in once they start on each other.
This is where what I shall refer to as "BITCHFEST 0k1" comes in. (Edited slightly for clarity and some lines cemented
together. Words and meanings/contexts unchanged).
[Nathicana] As I said, your actions took more time than the actions goign on up on Io for one thing. Siri's stuff was very
poorly written and implemented as well, and we've discussed that. And I've no idea what your supposed ic reasons are for
suddenly out of the blue being involved.
[WhisperingVoices] I'm sorry I don't follow how shooting is a joke. Reploid moved and shot in the same post. I choreographed
a shot, and even had people feeling guilty about it

it's still a weapon that has been designed and built using estimates based on RL

truly, despite your thinking, have no business being in, is rather cheap.

We spoke. I disagreed with her - I
thought, since I fired the weapon before the freeze and then had to redo the calculations after the freeze - when they were
relevant - I should put the firing back up. This is very much an indication that Nathi didn't think I should be firing.
So, I'm chilling along, expecting to be OMG_IGNORED because Yut don't want to take more than token losses. Then Sunset, who I had generally found to be quite friendly (after we got over the time I pointed out he was
using sufficient anti-matter in his anti-tank missiles to vapourise chunks of Europa), started talking to me:

[Sunset] The SDF maintains the SEC - Sunset Exploration Command.

similar highest end sensor platforms that watch system traffic.

[Sunset] so? It has bleed - collisions that bounce off in random directions. Which will strike objects, producing light.

certain 'things' can. So by the time your sensors pick it up it would be already hitting anyway

it's going for a Yut asset

So, after I get barraged with a lot of "tell me 'x' or be ignored" things, I give in, and tell Sunset the actual target. He agrees it is a valid target. Conversation continues vaguely discussing followup and what will happen
when it is discovered that Whispering Voices fires it.
Then came them time when I had to 'ask' to be part of the thread, since it was obviously all going only by Triumvirate of
Yut's rules. Firstly I approached Karmabaijan.

Was I harsh for saying someone "more capable"? Possibly. The amount of effort required to pass the message would have been

Now we have the night of "THE PLAN". This is where a group of both sides (Yut and Arda) got together to discuss the plan.
They eventually settled on the plan being that I fired the Seventh Trumpet at Rhea and Arda, and both sides went and blew it
up. This was built on two fundamentally flawed assertions: namely that a) I wanted to fire at Rhea (which has an atmosphere)
and b) I wanted to fire at Arda (the same). Given I was using a neutral particle beam weapon not particularly likely. And
this despite the fact I had told Sunset exactly what I was shooting it at. Ah well. Then there was the night in which the plot was hammered out. I wasn't there, wasn't asked to be
there. My new position as "chief bitch" assured, as Melkor was fed some fob-off about getting a Menelmacari beach head as a
result of the war, Yut happily let me know I was "in".
The reason why it was decided I was firing at Arda? The following lines of vague OOCness to Nathi.

This is the truly hilarious part. Feeling generous, and based on the fact that there had been no IC reaction whatsoever to my
firing (or any IC posts afterwards at all), and - even though I disagreed with them - wanting to show I could be flexible, I
took on board Nathicana's huge bitching session and changed my firing post into a misfire. I even put a lot of roleplay into
it later.
At this point I'll repeat a prize comment from Nathicana earlier, discussing the weapon: [Nathicana] Grounds for an
ignore right there if ever I saw.
I was rather surprised, thinking I had been nice, to be met with a barrage of even more bitching, after I didn't fire it. I
say in the #nationstates room (obviously expecting a scoobiesnack for being kind) "hey guys, I'm editing that post out since
no-one's reacted to the thread since I made it and Nathi bitched about it" (or words to that effect).

Then we had discussions. Kalessin - while dodging around the issue of telling me 'the plan' - tried to find out when I was
firing and what at.

So, I entered #plotting. Melkor found out. End result: I wasn't going to fire on Arda (I wasn't logging that session of
#plotting, sadly. Suffice to say I laughed at the plan, concocted entirely on Yut trying to persuade Melkor that an OOC
vaguerie thrown to Nathi to get her to leave me alone was a basis for me attacking him IC. Always believing that IC actions
should be governed by IC reasons (sorry, I know that's a direct clash with some people's paradigms) - and somewhat
aggrieved that the whole plan be based around Melkor shooting down Yut's titbit offered to him (a diplomatic station) using
my weapon and no sort of justification for it, I wasn't willing to shoot Arda for no reason just to make "the plan"
happen.
Right. So now I knew what the plan was, and why Nathi had done a sweet 180 degree turn and why Scolo had apologised and
why everyone wanted me to fire. Melkor got his six hours, the Mexican standoff near Jupiter, and everyone waited so PLAN MARK
2 (that I also wasn't told about). So I fired. It took a while, I did some roleplay, some character development. Despite being
accused of numberwanking, I didn't really post any figures for the exact power of the NPBW, how many cubic feet of material
it could vapourise, or anything like that. I left that to the battle over Io.
Now we get onto my firing post: ignoring Berserker's attempts to obfuscate issues, and make it seem like my nation
can't hit an area the size of a planetary body because I lacked OOC knowledge about some other part of the gameworld - just
an excuse so Yut didn't have to deal with the actual problem presented to them by being on a ringworld (that it's like
putting eggs in a basket in the Hindenburg, and hoping when people fire flareguns at it they don't destroy it). The
construction of a ringworld is insane, and the security of a ringworld is minimal. My IC analyst was left IC - I don't see it
as my place to call casualties. However, based on the construction of the thing, that
is what would happen to such a thing. Nevertheless, I was not expecting or necessarily even wanting the ringworld to be destroyed: just to have an impact on it. The fact the eventual impact bore no relevance or realistic basis to the shot was, yes, annoying. Wazzu put it more objectively than I can: I wasn't trying to wipeout the whole of the ringworld in one shot. I was, however, IC pointing out lines of thought which indicated it could be severely damaged.
I then found out about PLAN 2. Yet more justifications had been found for Melkor to attack the Seventh Trumpet - the line I
got told after the event of the ignore was "Well, Melkor was going to attack because Yut would have assumed it was him
running the space station anyway." Words simply fail me at that excuse. I attempt to persuade Melkor it makes no sense, resulting in his most recent
outburst:
"You don't seem altogether too interested in creating a solution we can all agree with."
And you asked me about my agreement when? The only interaction I had with the plan was people trying to
find successively more ridiculous and bizarre reasons to make me do what they wanted (not shoot at the ringworld, but shoot
at a planetary mass. And to shoot at Arda, the side I wanted to win out of the two). Trying to shoehorn me and giving me no
reason to do so other than it fits with 'the plan' is not getting me involved in creating a solution 'we can all agree with'. Especially when I am not told the 'plan'.
Sorry I would not be the tool by which you could blow up a worthless diplomatic station and call it revenge for the
Nargothrond.

I never asked for it. I made IC actions based on IC feasibility. Where I come from, this is called "roleplaying".
"You can take all of your 'I hate yut' and 'I hate EI' rhetoric and stick it up your ass." I have no OOC love for Yut, their
arrogance, their hiding behind moderator status, their inability to accept losses, their constant condescension, their sly
manipulations and OOC bitching ensured that long ago - these incidents only made it worse. I never made a secret of it. However I ignored it when it came to IC actions. As the 'planning' went on and on, it became (understandably I feel) FAR HARDER to try and remain objective, and to stop feeling ever-growing contempt for them. However, I have legitimate IC hate for
them, though, and that was what I was acting on.
"For all I care. Essentially all you're doing here is creating problems for a storyline that we fucking DEVISED to PREVENT
this kind of thing from happening." Not "we". Yut.
"The Ring of Powerfullness, while it may be a legitimate target if this WERE real life, is essentially a plot mechanism used
by the Trium Players to justify their rather expansive populations. for game balance reasons, this means the Ring will not be
destroyed or compromised beyond repair in one post, if at all."
Melkor, you said yourself you had wanted Yut to agree to be willing to lose everything, just as you were.

In summary ...
I've been fork tongued, Berserker? Have I? I've tried not to speak to any of the Triumvirate of Yut, since after the creation
of the First Plan I've had nothing but bemusement at the OOC manipulation attempts.
So I'm ignored - but only because I wouldn't fit into the pocket Yut wanted me to. I still fail to see how I can conform to the "controlled plan" when people don't tell me what it is. Simply saying "Fire on Arda, it's THE PLAN" and giving no IC justification, and no OOC justificaton (because no-one would tell me the plan) is laughable. Either I'm wholly controlled, and in on the plan, and know what is going on - or I'm not, and the people who are work to the plan and I work to whatever I work to. You can't make it [CONTROLLED] whilst leaving all the details out. Hide behind your reputations as "excellent
roleplayers" and moderators all you like. I can't speak for anyone else, but I find the actions of Melkor Unchained, and most
of the Triumvirate, wholly farcical.
