Welcome to FurClan Kennels!

Furclan is located in a wooded park like setting in Damascus Oregon. We have 5 acres, a pond with ducks for entertaining the Cairns, and lots of squirrels to chase. The property is sectioned  off into 3 large fenced yards, a puppy house and their own yard.

       Now a Little About Me

One of the most wonderful things about my Cairns is they are all part of the family. My Cairns are a constant source of entertainment and joy. I wouldn't trade them for the world!

My first introduction to Cairns was in 1980. The love affair with Cairns began when Wufus became our newest family member. He soon had our previously large dog only family, retrained to Cairn way of thinking. This amusement led to the second of what has become a long line of Cairns. Scarlet O'Hara was a retired show dog, and never let me forget her celebrity status. 1992 was a sad year when the last of my original Cairns died of old age.

By 1993, with the kids in college and the Cairns gone, I decided to never again be without a Cairn. I became dedicated to the breed, wanting to preserve the original traits of Cairns that made them a long loved breed. From the beginning my breeding program has been based on temperament, health, and of course, confirmation.

I am an avid student of Cairn history, breeding and health.  My dogs are bred with integrity, striving for the best dog possible. I guarantee my puppies to be healthy when they leave my home.

I've worked toward the testing for the Cairn anomalies to eventually eliminate the genetically related health problems Cairns can be prone to. In the last 10 years hereditary problems have been eliminated through the efforts of Cairn Breeders. Through tests, we now have genetic markers that help with improving, without compromising the Cairn breed.
