Acs, Evan |
Terrific plan. I hope all goes well! |
|
“Adam” |
It sounds like a very good idea and I would love to
have another motor circuit near me seen as I plan to make a career ova it |
|
Anderson, Anthony |
The whole thing please (ERA Fan) Im 43 &
remember my Dad taking me to Brooklands it should never have been damaged. |
|
Anderson, Paul |
Britain is widely regarded as the world's top
international motor racing centre. It is therefore entirely justifiable that
Brooklands, the world's first purpose built motor racing circuit, is retained
as a feabile racing facility. To endorse such a project is to defend this
nation's motor racing heritage. |
|
Arnold,
John |
For sporty drive, like Anglesey moreso. |
|
Arnott, Max |
Its history! |
|
Arutunoff, Anatoly |
a historic/vintage event would be the best in the
world. |
|
Atlas, John |
Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang! |
|
“Aysedasi” |
I think they should knock down everything in the way
and build it as it was originally - but then I guess someone will accuse me
of being slightly less than realistic....... I've been there. I'd recommend it to anyone. I went
about 7-8 years ago. The feeling of history when your standing as high up the
banking as you can get is almost tangible. Wonderful. Must go again. |
|
Bailey, Stuart |
too much history to loose the place |
|
Baine, Tom |
Go for it |
|
Baisden, Alex |
Oh god yes, please, just to make the Brooklands
ghost breathe again. |
|
Baker, Paul |
Great
site... I'm
pleased I've finally come across someone who thinks the way I do about
Brooklands.... Bulldoze
the industrial estates, superstores and houses and turn it into a living celebration
of racing, automobiles and aviation.... |
|
Baldó, Miquel |
Very good idea, but I also want to see the bikes |
|
Barton, Alan |
It's part of our British motor racing history. |
|
Bennett, Kyle |
Save Brooklands |
|
Bersdorf, Cy |
Great idea … The idea is so good it probably, according to the rules of motor racing logic, won't happen. I'm not sure about the "one of the five
greatest events in the world"; internationally, the Brooklands name has
been out of the limelight for too long. Its reputation would have to be
rebuilt. But still, the prospect of bringing this track back to life is one
that makes every racefan's heart beat faster. (now where are those pills
again) One thing: DX will pay for their proposal, who would
pay for yours? Author’s note:
DaimlerChrysler pays, of course! … and see the following comment. |
|
Bertioli, Tim |
Any meetings should be historic, like Goodwood. |
|
Billard, Martin |
This is a fantastic idea, bring back racing at
Brooklands the home of motor sport. |
|
Birkby, Simon |
Would bring huge amount of business to the area. |
|
Bixby, David |
Great concept. DC should do something positive for
motorsport as all they have done is retract most of the direction they
started! |
|
Blake, Ray |
Such a historic site should be refurbished with
sympathy and the original circuit restored. |
|
Blake, Steve |
New Circuit---Yes Please! |
|
Blake, Steve |
A
great plan....I wish you well! |
|
Bradley, Andrew |
We need to develop this important site and have
motor racing at Brooklands again |
|
Branch, Richard |
A full curcuit at Brooklands would really show
Merc's commitment to the project. |
|
Brand, Dave |
Brooklands is an important part of motor racing's
history. That's exactly what it is......history! Author’s note: So, why don’t make it “living history”? |
|
Brand, Matt |
Brooklands is a great circuit - It'll be perfect for
CART, Superbikes and BTCC ! Rock on! Great idea. You should write to DaimlerChrysler
about it. I've found another advantage of it - DaimlerChrysler could test
effects of forces on the car on banked areas. There is a file enclosed with
some changes to your plan I suggest you to consider. I only
view these as suggestions, not as changes, so please do not take any insult. Click here to view
Matt Brand's plan Author’s note:
I don’t take it like an insult, on the contrary! This is exactly the spirit
that I hoped to raise! Only making a great deal of comment we can hope to
obtain something concrete. I
thought about a shorter circuit, in order to limit the noise problems to the
residents, but I would like to keep all the facilities accessible from the
fly-over and the paddock. I
anticipated the exit from the banked curve to have enough room for a runoff
area. However, all the developments are possible… |
|
Broadhurst, Stephen |
Make it so guys...........You know it makes sense |
|
Brocklehurst, Derrick |
It has a unique place in history and should be
treated with respect. |
|
Brodie, Alasdair |
This is a world heritage site - the local council
has lost major opportunity to develop a world-leading tourist attraction.
Most towns would be delighted to have such a unique attraction within the
vicinity. Major sporting venues are viewed as profit centres in advanced
countries (such as the USA). |
|
Brownson, Toby |
As much a part of our heritage as the great stately
homes of this country, just different. |
|
Buckingham,
Brian |
Crystal Palace some of it must still be their.
Residents of Brooklands area would never allow it! Author’s note:
Some residents have signed the petition! I hope that it is a good beginning… |
|
Budd, Nick |
make a space large enough for public track days and
preserve the existing meuseum with its unique atmosphere. |
|
Burlow, Malcolm |
We need to keep our motor sport heritage alive. |
|
Bushnell, Toby |
A very worthy cause, that would bring jobs and money
to the area. I'd love to see this plan go ahead. |
|
Butcher, Ian |
brooklands is a name famous the world over like Le mans
and Monte Carlo and should be brought back to former glory |
|
Calder, Andrew |
I support the campaign :) |
|
Cannon, Gerry |
Any addition to motor sport venues in the south of
England is to be strongly supported by all active motor sport enthusiasts. |
|
Cardwell, Robert |

we'll never lead it again in the future. |

|
Cobain, Trevor |
Please do this! |
|
Cole, Ben |
This
is the home of British aviation and motorsport...it should be more than a
museum... |
|
Cole, John |
Super idea! |
|
Coleman, Rob |
Would be great to see the name and site brought back
for racing heritage. |
|
Coles, Graham |
Gotta be done. |
|
Collier, Graham |
Bring it back |
|
Collins, Sam |
Do it! To be honest the real potential for a circuit is
down on the byfleet baking as it has the pace for a 1.5 mile road course
that’s not too nadgery. |
|
Connell, Pete |
It's the spiritual home of British Motorsport and
should be preserved at all cost! |
|
Cook, Daniel |
It makes me sick that somewhere with so much history
can be allowed to be destroyed. Do the right thing and restore it while
there's something left to restore. |
|
Corcoran, Josh |
Very nice circuit, well done and looks good to race.
GO BROOKLANDS! |
|
Corti, Giuseppe |
We need more banking. |
|
Cousins, Roy |
Too important to ignore. |
|
Cramphorn, Shaun David |
It's a start - Still reckon we should redevelop the
whole site. Good rail & road links |
|
Crook, Joe |
The chance to revive an extraordinary piece of
British history AND world motorsport history AND possibly attract the
attention of the worlds most lucrative and glamorous sport? Grasp the
opportunity while you have it. |
|
Crozier, Richard |
A proper circuit at the world's most historic race
venue is desperately needed. The circuit should host races such as British
F3, GT and BTCC. |
|
Cull, Nigel |
Brooklands is the birthplace of British motor racing
history |
|
Cuortney, James |
I wonderful idea and it would be fantastic for
british motorsport |
|
“Dave” |
What a biased opinion, What about the traffic chaos
on the Byfleet Road? Try living here ..... |
|
Davis, Mike |
Lets save what remains. |
|
Day, Carl |
Brooklands first then crystal palace! |
|
Daysh, Ian |
The birthplace of circuit-based motor sport should
have motorsport back again. It's a good looking plan and worthy of consideration,
and necessary modifications imposed by the Heritage Council. |
|
de Carli, Guido |
Why have a proving ground in a such historical place
and not to use for something more? |
De Vries, Rob
|
Brooklands must be kept alive! |
|
Dear, Chris |
I am the current metro cup champion and involved in
historic racing in europe, i feel it would be a great asset to the world of
motorsport to have brooklands back in action. |
|
Denholm, Colin |
Such an historic place deserves funding for
development |
|
De-Ste-Croix,
Adam |
Please! This is part of our national heritige. Lets
make the country great again. |
|
Dewar, John |
A rare chance for the council to show what can be
done!...you never know! |
|
Dobbins,
V. Kerri |
It would be wonderful, Good Luck!! |
|
Donohoe, Malcolm |
Disgusted at the lack of regard for a national site
of historic importance. |

We can't let the home of Motor Sport die |
|
Douglas, Jeff |
Well done and good luck |
|
“Dwayne” |
My m8 told me to sign this |
|
Earl, Phil |
Definitely a worthwhile venture. This country needs
things to be proud in and also needs to realise that it can be proud of its
past achievements. Terrible waste to let such an icon of motoring heritage
fall by the wayside. Lets get it back, ey?? |
|
Ellman-Brown, Harvey |
Having been taken there from the age of 4, 32 years
ago there is less and less of this glorious and historic circuit. I would
love to take my children there in years to come and talk about Railtons and
those brave men to drove at an average of more than 140mph all those years
ago. An incredible piece of motoring history that should not be allowed to
disappear. |
|
“Eric mc” |
I have never
subscribed to this "petition" on the grounds that it is a total
waste of time. Restoring Brooklands to the condition it was pre-war is
totally unrealistic. Ownership of the site is now shared by a number of
different companies and I don't see them voluntarily agreeing to vacate their
relatively newly built office blocks, apartments and supermarkets to satisfy
the interests of a few "nostalgic" motor sport fans. Brooklands has
been "unsaveable" since 1940. Author’s note: I don’t pretend to restore the circuit as it was in the ‘30s. I propose to create a new track that respects what Brooklands was (and an overgrown kart track, like the one proposed by DaimlerChrysler, doesn’t do it…) |
|
Evans, Derek FJ |
This is a wonderful piece of British History |
|
Eyre, Jon |
What can I say, it's Brooklands, the idea that such
a legendary track could be lost for ever is unbelievable. This track could be
mentioned in the same breath as Indy, Monza, Mount Panorama and Le Mans |
|
Farrell, Stephen |
Bring back Britain’s racing heritage |
|
Félix, Victor |
I would like to see at least in my life time one
race at the famous Brooklands. Thank you. |
|
Fenelon, Pete |
It has to be done! - and in time for the centenary
of the original Brooklands. |
|
Fenton, Brian |
please keep it as a race circuit you could use it
also as a test track (you may make it profitable) thus keeping both parties
happy |
|
Ferguson, Tom |
Brooklands is a valuable part of our heritage. |
|
Flenley, Julian |
Having worked inside one of the industrial units on
Brooklands many years ago I have always been interested in seeing in restored
to it's former glory but never though anyone else would be really interested
- the proposal deserves decent consideration and support. Please spread the
word and all the best of luck to the organisers. |
|
Flores, Art |
I find this effort to preserve such a fine example
of the glory days of British motorsports to be quite unique. Please make it
happen. Best wishes, Art Flores, Alameda Ca. USA |
|
Foreman, David |
As a local resident, I think the Mercedes plans are
a good balance of keeping things green, saving the banking, and giving local
people some parkland. Author’s note:
I respect your opinion, but I would like to point out that my proposal is an
extension of the DaimlerChrysler's one. I don't ask that Brooklands becomes a
circuit with sport activity only. It is an occasion for Brooklands with only
positive sides. One only event per year would take worldwide fame, great
return for the local economy and facilities for the residents available all
the year. All these advantages with the only discomfort of few hours of
noise. |
|
Fortune,
Nigel C. |
It would be great to see the Brooklands circuit
restored |
|
Froome,
Nick |
If the RAC / Network Q draws more than a million
spectators then it is the biggest motoring spectator event in the country. If it doesn't then that accolade goes, amazingly, to
the London to Brighton run which sees crowds of more than a million on the
route. Strange, isn't it, that the NIMBYs love a few old
crocks rumbling through their picturesque villages, but just you try and race
them on a purpose-built race track and they'll be up in arms. BTW the London to Brighton is a great event - those
pre-1905 cars are great and the drivers are all as mad as a bag of spanners |
|
Frost, Tim |
A circuit ofgreat motoring histories return would be
great for all of us who have only seen it on film |
|
Fry, Duncan |
Anything would be better than leaving this world
famous motor racing icon to rot! |
|
Futrell, Michael |
I think it's a great proposal. |
|
Gamlin, Chris |
Excellent Idea, I’ve driven on the old runway
section for a private "track day" and its sad to see it so run down
in its present state. |
|
Gardner, Simon |
Interesting - but what about: Author’s note:
you can find the answer to your doubts in the homepage. However, the
Brooklands Society should manage the most of the non-DaimlerChrysler’s
estate. The public road would pass on a fly-over above the circuit, like at
Nurburgring and in Monaco they race inside the city… |
|
“Gaston” |
How do you spell optimist? Brooklands has been out
of use since the second world war. Barely a fraction of the banked circuit
remains and there are at least three main roads cutting into the original
oval. Any restoration would require two new river crossings. Goodwood has easily surpassed Brooklands in recent
years in identifying itself as the historic home of British motor sport. In
large part this has been achieved through massive subsidy of the Goodwood
racing circuit from the Festival of Speed. The circuit has only recently
become financially self-sufficient. Both Goodwood and Brands Hatch suffer from noise
restrictions. In comparison these two are in rural settings compared to
Brooklands which contains houses, shops and offices. There is absolutely no
chance of Brooklands ever becoming a race circuit again. The Merc/Chrysler solution offers by far and away
the best future for both the remains of the Brooklands aerodrome and the
barely viable Brooklands museum. What is more, it's only a stone's thow from the
new multi-million pound McLaren Mercedes facility at Woking. Don't waste your time on this feeble petition. Author’s note:
DaimlerChrysler is going to restore what remains of
the original circuit. Anyway, I don’t propose to race in the original circuit,
but to create a new track that uses parts of it, without crossing rivers…
and, as far as noise is concerned, please read carefully the main page… |

I am strongly in favour of this. |

Build a proper circuit, keep the British Racing
tradition going. |
|
Hatton, Jules |
This is an exciting proposal that looks great on
paper. Anybody interested in local history and heritage and automotive
history has to be interested. Goodwood is an excellent example of what this
could be like and it has to be of great interest to the local council,
DaimlerChrysler and the Brooklands Society. |
|
Haughton, Ian |
With so much history at stake the Brooklands circuit
and airfield should be saved as part of heritage. |
|
Hayward, James |
Spot on venue, love the Mini day's you have down
there. |
Healey, Mel
|
I
am a motorsport student at Brooklands college and have just read your ideas
with some interest. I would love to see the Brooklands circuit be put
to use again in its full capacity, but having walked the entire oval a few
months ago I will not sign the petition as the state of the remaining oval
shocked me. If there is to be no development of any of the track, will
anyone actually bother to maintain or renovate any of the existing track? Author’s note: This is exactly why
I made this proposal… |
|
Hernandez, Terry |
Bring back Brooklands, let the young see the old

Hess, Eric |
Sounds like a good plan! |
|
Hicks, Declan |
Let's not lose a piece history for ever, we have a
chance to make something useful for the future here |
|
Hindhaugh, John |
let's take some of the cash from speed camera and
use it properly. Better still divert some of the millions from questionable
'art' projects... hello National Lottery this is our heritage..is anyone
listening!!! |
|
Hinton, Richard |
This venue needs at least some form of live action
again to draw attendance. |
|
“HiRich” |
Donington Park too was history until Farmer Tom
remembered watching Nuvolari there. Or what about the Goodwood Revival? If you live in South West London (and a couple of
million high earners do), you would know how far Thruxton is, and how long it
takes to cut through to Brands. A facility inside the M25 has a lot of good
things going for it. The odds may be a million to one, but that's still a
chance. |
|

I am glad to find this plan.(From

As a historic racer with decades of experience I
would really welcome this move. |

wide range of vies given but all in all a good proposition for Brooklands, the
various clubs and members and of course the general public that visit the
site, long may it continue! From www.barcc.co.uk |

Its a piece of history, lets keep it that way |

Thank you. Follow his example… |

BRING BACK BROOKLANDS! I knew that slogan would
finally work! - Just that it has taken more than 30 years longer than
expected? |
|
Jaap, John |
As the worlds first purpose built motor racing
circuit, it must be brought back to life as a racing venue. |
|
“Jack” |
Yay for brooklands. |
|
Jackman, Stephen |
Please restore Brooklands to the place it deserves
in Motorsport. |
|
Janes, Bryan |
Lets work together to preserve Britain as the home
of motorsport. This is an excellent opportunity to revive a classic circuit
to help this cause. It is after all one of the only sports at which we still
excel. |
|
Janotta, Lee M. |
I like the design, but it's really realistic, I'm afraid... How about something like this? Even just the north
part would be a hell of a like better than the DaimlerChrysler design, which
would be nothing but an overgrown karting circuit. Literally. This could host
proper club races. Click here to view Lee Janotta’s plan The transition onto the banking is actually not so
bad, though. I'd think an F3 car could take it at an angle. A flat, slow, short road course would be absolutely
everything Brooklands is not! Brooklands is a national treasure! Author’s note:
This is a very good plan. It has the advantage of being all inside the
DaimlerChrysler’s estate, so it is easier that it can be built, but it looks
incompatible with the DaimlerChrysler’s project (heritage centre, public park
…). However, if it were built, I would scream in joy! |
|
Jones, Mike |
Brooklands is an important part of this countries
motrosport heritage |
|
“Joust” |
Sorry people - but what's the point? To read the
proposal it has that classic line "with the purchase of few other real
estates (offices of the Gallaher Tobaccos?)". So, who's going to pay for that then (c. £2-4m
looking at the land value alone, never mind the buildings on them!)???? At the
current signature rate that'll be around £10,000-£20,000 each just to buy the
land, never mind build the thing. Author’s note: I
don’t want to buy Brooklands!!! I only made a proposal, and some other fans
proposed a different layout, which doesn’t requires further land than the one
bought by DaimlerChrysler… |
|
Joyce, Dennis E. |
Please help perpetuate this 'shrine' of motor racing
heritage. |
|
“Justin” |
well done merc 4 helping me loose my job at a racing
track in brooklands. now thanks to mercedes and the local council our younger
generation are loosing their places to practice. WHY didnt mercedes and the
local council keep the go-kart track aswell then there would have been
something for all ages. The go-kart track was shut down because of local
residents not liking the idea of motorsport being there. I SAY GO AHEAD AND
BUILD THIS RACE TRACK PLEASE!!!!! |
|
Kalf, Machiel |
Please, start so soon as they can! |
|
Kalkman, Nico |
Bild a track like the old one TNX |
“Karen”
|
I have spent many a happy hour at Brooklands and
can't help but feel nostalgic about the place. The surrounding area is
heavily populated so rebuilding the original circuit is going to need some
"Special" backing. When I pop to Tesco's a part of the old banking
sits opposite. The cafe walls had photos of all the racing greats in action.
To be realistic, it will be a planning nightmare but what a treasure to get
back. |
|
Keeble, Marvin |
If you're going to restore something, restore it
properly. The great thing about racing circuits like Goodwood and the
Nurburgring is that they are almost exactly the same as they were when all
the good and great raced on them (such as Fangio and Moss). With most modern
racing tracks, they might have taken the name from the original track, but
the character has been ripped out to put in a sanitised boring track. With
circuits like Goodwood and the Nurburgring, you know that you’re on the damn
near it the same track what Fangio and Moss held great battles with their
contemparies .You don’t really get that feeling with ‘modern’ race tracks. Do
the right thing and give Brooklands the great race track it once used to be,
back to us. |
|
Keesing, Bill |
Save motorsport history. We have little enough
history as it is. Preserve what is left befor it is all gone! |
|

keep racing alive |
|
Kidd, Alistair |
Brooklands has what most new circuits don't -
character and history. Please open it up to competition, but keep it away from
F1. Brookland was built for showing the speed and endurance of Grand Tourers. |
|

An excellent proposal! A motorsport revival at this
historic venue is long overdue. |

Racing belongs at Brooklands, so if DaimlerChrysler

Well it would be great but I can't see the
suburbanites of Weybridge buying into it sadly. A good idea. I hope it works. If the test track could be built for club racing it
would be of benefit to the investors. |

I would travel half way round the world to see a
motor sport event on the proposed track, it would be fantastic. James in

I am a member of Bemsee (BMCRC) whose President is
Gordon Cobbold. He raced at Brooklands in his early days and his bikes and
trophies are kept in the museum there. Although I have not had a chance to
visit Brooklands yet I have heard a lot about it. It is an historic circuit
and should be brought back into use. |
|
Maskell, Louisa |
I used to work on the site at Genesis Rider Training
and agree that it should be restored to it's former glory. For too long it
has been neglected and abused. |
|
May, Kenneth A. |
Don’t know anything about your track, but was
informed by a "Huge" fan to sign the petition or else! |
|
McGuinness, C Patrick |
We MUST preserve this track not only as monument but
as a valued treasure for the future too. |
|
Mckenzie, Kevin |
Looks great hope it happens. |
|
McLeod, Malcolm |
How can they do this????? |
|
Mcloughlin, Eric |
Waste of time, in my opinion. There's no way any
sort of "new" circuit would be allowed in what is now a very built up
(and noise sensitive) area. The Daimler/Chrysler plans are probably the best
opportunity this site will ever get for any sort of automotive related
re-development. If it fails to get the go-ahead, the site will become a
"B&Q / "Comet" / "Carpetrite" wasteland. Author’s note:
Monaco too is densely built up, but each year there is a F1 GP. The spirit of
my proposal is just this one: to add to the activities foreseen by
DaimlerChrysler one only motorsport event per year. Everybody can suffer 6-7
hours of noise per year… |
|
Mercer, Peter |
please do you best to preserve the spirit as much as
possible, especially considering what as happened to the place over the past
100 years. |
|
“Mg_dot” |
Not quite sure how anyone is gonna persuade M&S
and Tesco's to let them rebuild the banking through the middle of their
stores though.... |
|
Middleton, Bill |
I am trying also to get a race track built in my area.
The least I could do is help someone do the same! |
|
Miller,
Bruce B |
It will a plus for everyone |
|
Moore, Rhodri |
As a local resident this is an exciting prospect and
deserves to succeed, it is a disgrace that the home of UK motorsport has been
allowed to deteriorate to this extent. |
|
Morgan, Alan |
As a local resident I would welcome such a scheme. |
|
Morgan,
Bernard B |
It is much needed and would be a great idea. |
|
Mosely, Max |
I'll put in any money needed |
|
Mountain, Dan |
It's worth fighting for. |
|
Mowlem, Johnny |
The proposed alternative circuit resurrection for
Brooklands is a very neat idea. However, given the commercial realities of
such a project, if nothing else can be saved, at least large sections of the
famous banking have to be maintained. It would be sacriligious to history,
let alone motorsport to lose them forever. I'm sure many championships both
national and international would jump at the chance to race at a track that
conjures up such strong motorsport memories. It could work! |

Navaratnam, Suresh |
I'm only doing it because of my son but it looks

Brooklands was a true racing track, reusing it
merely as a testsite means abusing it |

WE LOVE BROOKLANDS |
|
Nicolson, Ewen |
Beware of the Nimby's (Not In My Backyard), for they
shall probably smite any plans for a proper racetrack, but a valiant effort
nonetheless. Good luck. |

I Really Hope It Happens!!!!! Best Of Luck!!!! |

O’Connor ,Richard |
Preserve History! |
|
O’Donnell, Liam |
We need more race tracks in the UK. Just build
Brooklands and make it great!!!! |
|
O’neill, Peter |
We make so many ugly, pointless circuits in the
world-why pass up an opportunity to make the greatest, and in our own back
yard as well! |
|
Oswald, Jonathan |
such a waste to see brooklands go |
|
Oulton, Patrick |
Great idea |
|
Overton, Andy |
Go for it, but keep it simple and as original as
possible. |
|

Please preserve and make usefull Brooklands for
racing fans. I promise to spend lots of money there if you do! |
|
Parfitt, Phillip |
Bring Back Brooklands - and Crystal Palace as well!! |
|
Perkins, Sam |
What can we do to help? |
|
Perlman, David |
At least it is not to be a golf course or housing
development. However, a true spectator racing venue will require a lot of
money and dedicated souls. Author’s note: DaimlerChrysler isn’t poor … |
|
Pessoa, Antonio |
I hope Brookland would be restored. |
|
Petersen ,Simon |
Retaining motorsport history provides all important historical
references. It's not unlike the restoration of a castle, in fact one could
easily say it was more important. Public awareness and appreciation is the
key. Part of the beauty of motorsport is that you can see it evolve from the
true DIY men to the now more professional ventures. |
|
Pike, Robert |
Fantastic idea - hope the locals don't object. |
|
Potts, Marcus |
It would be a tragedy if yet more of this fantastic
and historic circuit was lost. Anything to safeguard its future and, hopefully,
recreate some of the splendour of Brooklands would be excellent news for
British motorsport. |
|
Powell, Andy |
As a local race car driver the idea of developing a
circuit at such a historic loaction works for me! |
|
Presland, William |
Bring back banking! |
|
Putnam, Tony |
Its where it all started We must have it back
please. |
|
Quackelbeen,

Randle, John |
It is vital that Brooklands should continue as a lasting
tribute to the pioneers of the sport we all love and owe so much to in our
daily lives . |
|
Rauchfuss, Capt. Marc |
Resurrecting this circuit would be monumental in
preserving the British motor sports heritage. |
|
“RC” |
Build a great circuit |
|
Reason, Dominic |
I went to see the remains of Brooklands and as I'm only
18 I don't remember it as it was. I was very saddened by what I saw and I
feel it is not just a part of British history but also world history. If this
was anything else other than a motorsport circuit it would have had millions
of pounds plowed into it. I guess this shows the British government's
attitude towards our beloved sport. |
Reeves, John
|
A very wonderful site that must be restored |
|
Reid, Stuart |
Great idea, I was there recently and find it hard to
believe that planning permission was granted for a supermarket on such a
historic site! |
|
“Riccardo” |
We need it. |
|
Richardson, P. |
It Should be done as it is the home of true British
Motorsport |
|
Rickard, David |
This is a great proposal and certainly gets my
approval. |
|
Riddles, Matt |
Sounds tricky but would be great if this could
happen. Why do Mercedes want this land anyway???? |
|
Rigby, Derek K. |
(Chairman) Preston & District Motorcycle Club. |
|
Ritchie, Peter |
An attempt to provide the original British racing
circuit in this form would be critical for the development of historical
racing in the UK. |
|
Rivers-Fletcher, Jeremy |
A wonderful idea, but modern "barons of
industry" are not interested in history and preserving the heritage of
Motor Sport. Good luck! |
|
Rizzo, Frank |
How sad is it that the karting circuit in the bottom
of the proposed circuit is going to get swallowed up too. I was down there last
week, and they have lengthened their full kart circuit to 1200m and put in
some proper kerbs etc. But when they get kicked off the site, the circuit
will be left behind for the council to let kids roller skate and push bike
around on. Enough to make a grown man weep. |
|
“Rmr” |
It is an amazing place, I'm lucky as I live locally
and work on the site. The banking is incredible and the atmosphere that can
be felt when your inside the museum area is superb. It would be nice to see
it restored to its former glory. cant see a circuit being built as that photo
is out of date and new buildings have popped up, but certainly a lot of the
track is here and needs attention. I just hope no more buildings are built
and investment is put into Brooklands, there’s too much history here. The plan would be nice but it would never happen,
since that photo more big buildings have gone up for businesses, although a
large parge of the site is unused still. Would be nice to see it more active
but like Peter said, little chance. |
|
Roberts, Damon |
From being a small child I can remember Babs flying
along the banking and it was magical. Please do all you can to save
Brooklands. I am happy to offer any help that I can as a volunteer. |
|
Roberts, Jim |
Worked 34 years at the site (ex aircraft worker) |
|
Roberts, Neil |
reviving the circuit would really bring history back
to life, i love the smell of axis grease in the morning.... F1 is dead bring
back real motorsport |
|
Robson, Andrew |
Honda own Suzuka and have the Japanese Grand Prix
there. Toyota own Fuji and want to take the Japanese GP there. Why not give
this idea serious thought and bring the British GP to what would be a truly
deserving home? If Mr Ecclestone is willing to invest money in Silverstone
why not ask him to come aboard too? |
|
Robson, Simon G . |
Brooklands is an important part of our National
Motorspot Heritage. The plan should be approved. |
|
Roebuck, Alex |
Great idea! |
|
Rogers, Robert |
I am an Aussie with family links to the circuit
going back to 1915. Visited in 2000 & would love to see the circuit roar
to the sound of motor racing again. |
|
Rollo, Duncan |
The word "Brooklands" epitomises an era of
motor racing history |
|
Roper, Gregg |
The encroachment of civilization has claimed
numerous racing venues. We should try to reclaim any that can be saved. It's
too late for Bridgehampton, here in the States. Maybe Brooklands can have a
better future. |

|
Sewter, Paul |
We have lost enough of our heritage over the past
decade - let's not lose any more. |
|
Sharpe, Andy |
Anyone who is anyone who knows anything about motor
racing knows that Brooklands will ALWAYS be the forefather of anything to do
with this great sport. Anything to do with recreating anything like what has
gone on there in the past gets my vote!!!! |
|
Shaw, Ian |
Best of Luck. |
|
Shaw, Mark |
More support from the government would be nice! |
|
Shupe, Ben |
I live about 1/4 mile from Bristol's (USA) NASCAR track
and I know all about parking problems. The people living around the track
never complain because they make good money selling parking spots on their
lawns. If houses are that close to the proposed Brooklands Circuit then
please keep this in mind. |

Simmons, Simond |
We need to maintain Brroklans as a full track, to
preserve the heritage of Motor Racing |
|
Smith, Cheryl |
It would be great to see britains first circuit
return. |
|
Smith, Chris |
The UK needs a true oval circuit, not just the
sterile Rockingham |
|
Smith,
Graeme |
I sneaked a drive on the banking a few years ago,
and its as bumpy as hell! But I've signed the petition... It is/was used for historic sprints until recently,
but I believe the council were going to dig up the main straight. How is it that you'd never be allowed to close down
a football stadium or a horse racing course (without relocating it), but race
circuit can be shut down. And Brands looks seriously under threat again... |
|
Sparkes, Rob |
Keep Brooklands Alive and Kicking! |

Something needs to be done to preserve the remaining
track. Even if this proposal is not workable hopefully it will show how much
support there is for the circuit. |
|
Stevens, Roger |
We need it! |
|
Stewart, Jeffrey |
I don’t know that much about the Brooklands, since
I’m from the US, but i know its a place where auto racing should be at.. |
|
Stokes, Robert |
The name of Brooklands is motor racing's true
heritage and should be restored to a usable circuit even if subject to noise
limits as Goodwood. |
|
Stokes, Simon |
Make the track anti-clockwise!! Author’s note: it is already anti-clockwise… |
“Super_Marv”
|
I'd much rather [DaimlerChrysler] restored the old
circuit to its former glory or just leave it alone all together. Look at
other attempts to make a new racing tracks where an old ones existed: New Nurburgring
= Boring. New Monza = fast yes, but loads of boring long straights punctuated
by chicanes (the only thing great about it is the enthusiasm of the tifosi
for their favoured racing team). The original Nurburgring and Monza are Awe
inspiring, whereas the new ones are built for the current crop of F1 cars,
which demand big runoffs and, well, long straights punctuated by chicanes.
Infact, the only real interesting track which F1 cars race on these days is
Spa - it's only still interesting because much of the track is the same as it
was back when it was put together (well it was even better when it was
longer) |
|
Taylor, Paul |
I visited this circuit when I was 13, (which was 2
years ago!) and I was sad to see it was mostly demolished. Please bring it
back! |
|
Taylor, Paul |
I have been to Brooklands and would love to see it
active again! |
|
“The Real Slim Ecclestone” |
I recently visited Brooklands and i firmly beleive
that although resurecting the origional circuit will never be possible, it
would be more than possible to build a circuit like the ones proposed on this
site, the advantage being that the remaining banking that would surround the
track could be used to deaden the sound, meaning the circuit could be used
year round. Surely there are some racing enthusiasts among local residents
who could lend their support? Still be better to see the oval rebuilt, mind
you... |
|
Thomas, Jason |
Love the place, brings back memories of me and my
girl in our saxo, keep the dream alive!! |

I first visited Brooklands in 1985, it's improved a
lot since but i would love to see some proper racing their. |

Tilbury, Paul |
Enough damage has been done. Its time to undo it. |
|
Tiller, Grahame |
let us preserve something of the past for the

Brooklands is a piece of racing history, its a crime
that it has been left to get into the state that it is in today, any
preservation of this historical site is most welcome. |

The UK is the centre of the world motorsport
industry, and we should do what we can to protect its heritage. |
|
Tugwell, Iain |
Do it ! |
|
“TVRgaas” |
One issue is the large hanger, housing the Lock Ness Wellington (I think), on the finishing straight. This is part of "the museum site", so if the car lobby was gain the upper hand it could go, restoring the vista from the club house to the banking. Of course the aircraft people would say hold on, it's an historic WWII hanger! - discuss. Yes getting either the Mountain or Campbell circuits back would be fun, except for the Gallagher's (?) Tower near the entrance. And forget the outer circuit... Also noise was a problem even in the 20's - hence the Brooklands silencer! I understand that the D-C proposal does add buildings down the railway straight, possibly building on the line of part of the campbell circuit. However it may give a track which could be used for sprints, replacing the old rough airfield. Anyway planning to be there on the 11th for the VSCC Driving Tests, which is usually fun. |

Brooklands is an important part of the UK's history,
and a vital component in the development of the UK's foremost position in the
