Case Study You are the band teacher at Churchland High School
and the band has just been invited to participate in an east coast
competition to be held in Orlando Florida at Florida State University. There are currently 30 band members that
are eligible to compete in the competition that will occur May 18th
and May 19th. You have discovered that for each of the 30 children, yourself, and the additional 4 chaperones that you will need to accompany you a total of $5,000.00 is needed for the two-day event. This would provide transportation to and from Florida with a charter bus company, hotel rooms for one night, and 6 meals for the 35 people going. After speaking with other departments about their success with different fundraisers you have decided to participate in the Grandma Smith’s Cookie Kit and Pizza Kit fundraiser. The company will send the order forms for the students to use and money is to be collected upon order placement. Your band will receive 30% of the money collected from the orders and Grandma Smith’s company will receive the remaining money collected. In order to raise enough money from this fundraiser the total sales must be at least $16,750.00. You visited the office of principal William E. Nailem and checked the school calendar and discovered there is a 10-day block of days from March 28th through April 6th that no other fundraisers are scheduled from other clubs at that time. You will have the rest of the week to collect and total late orders, make your deposits, and turn in the orders to the company. The company has promised a two-week turnaround from receipt of the orders to the delivery of product. |
