There are a few tips to becoming that great Squad Leader, knowing and perfecting them are the key to mission success.
The Squad Leader must ALWAYS keep in contact with the rest of the squad. If the SL cannot perform this task, then the mission will be a failure. Also, the SL should set waypoints to all important locations (rally points, target objectives, enemy AMS, ect..).
A good SL should always choose a point man, this point man will lead the squad to its targets. The point man should be either the SL themself or a MAX unit. If the SL cannot be the point man for some unspoken reason, they should most always appoint a MAX unit to take his place simply because of there many strength.
A good SL should always keep a varity of troops. You should always have at least one of the following...
Adv Hacker (preferably)
Adv Medic (a must have)
At least one MAX unit (preferably anti-infantry/vehicle)
An infiltrator (to act as a scout)
Combat engineer (to set deployables and repair armor and other things)
2 Heavy Assualt troops
Sniper
A dedicated Galaxy piolt
An attack vehicle driver (harasser, heavy tank, light tank, ect...)
It is reccomended that all or most have medium assault so as they can defend as well.
Sticking together is the key to squad success. If a squad does not stick together, then what is the point of having a squad in the first place? The SL should keep in constant contact with the ENTIRE squad at all times.
Ask for status reports from the squad members regularly so you can get an up-to-date report on thier current situation.
If you follow these simple, yet important tips, you should be able to acheive anything.
