BEST EVER BUTTER COOKIES    (from Land o Lakes Butter)

 

1 c softened butter

1 c sugar

1 egg

 2 ½ c all-purpose flour

2 tbsp orange juice

1 tbsp vanilla

1 tsp baking powder

 

Frosting

3 c powdered sugar

1/3 c softened butter

1 to 2 tbsp milk

1 tsp vanilla

 

Combine 1 c butter, sugar and egg in large mixer bowl. Beat at med. Until creamy. Reduce speed to low; add flour, oj, vanilla and baling powder

Beat until well mixed

Divide dough into thirds

Wrap in plastic wrap and refridgerate until firm (2-3 hrs)

 

Heat over to 400F

On lightly floured surface roll out dough  ½ at time (keeping remaining dough in fridge)

Roll to 1/8” to ¼” thickness

Cut with cookie 4-5” cookie cutters

Place 1” apart on ungreased cookie sheets.

Bake 6-10 min or until edges are lightly browned

Let stand 1 min then remove from cookie sheet. Cool completely.

 

Combine all frosting ingredients in small bowl.

Beat at low speed, scraping bowl often, until fluffy.

Tint with food colour if desired

Frost and decorate cookies as desired.
