B I O G R A P H Y (1940-1959)

1940 November 27 Bruce Lee was born at the Jackson Street Hospital in San Francisco's Chinatown.

1946 (Age 6) Bruce's first major childhood movies were "The Beginning of a Boy", "The Birth of Mankind", and "My Son, Ah Cheun".

1952 (Age 12) Bruce began attending La Salle College.

1953 (Age 13) Being beaten by street gang, Bruce decided to take Kung Fu lessons and his trainer was Yip Man, the master of Wing Chun style.

1958 (Age 18) Bruce took up Cha-Cha dancing at the age of 14 and won the Crown Colony Cha-Cha Championship. He also had a leading role in the film "The Orphan" that year.

1958 (Age 18) Bruce entered the 1958 Boxing Championships and defeated the three year champion, Gary Elms.

1959 (Age 19) To claim his American Citizenship, Bruce was sent back to Seattle by his parents. He earned his high school diploma at Edison Technical School and began to teach his Martial Art skills in city parks.

B I O G R A P H Y (1961-1970)

1961 March (Age 21) Bruce started his tertiary education at the University of Washington, majoring in Philosophy. He taught Kung Fu to students at school.

1963 Fall (Age 23) Bruce started his first Jun Fan Kung Fu Institute in October and later moved it into a building near the university campus. There he would teach any person of any race Chinese Kung Fu. Bruce even demonstrated the "One-Inch Punch" which when holding his arm straight out, can knock a man straight across the ground with the shrug of his shoulder.

1964 August 2 (Age 24) Bruce's "one-inch punch" impressed Dozier, a film producer who later invited Bruce to fly down to Los Angeles for a screen test.1965 February 8 (Age 25) Bruce returned to Hong Kong for his father funeral.

1965 May (Age 25) Bruce took his son Brandon to see Yip Man to persuade him to allow his son to perform on tape. Yip declined and Bruce and his family returned to Seattle four months later.

1966 (Age 26) "The Green Hornet" series began filming and Bruce was paid $400 for each episode. He opened a third branch of the Jun Fan Kung Fu Institute in Los Angeles' Chinatown.

1967 July 14 (Age 27) The last episode of "The Green Hornet" series showed. The movie was later said to have failed because Bruce's minor role became more popular than the main character's.

1970 (Age 30) Bruce injured his sacral nerve during training and he was advised by doctors not to kick again. During his recovery period, Bruce started to document his training methods and his philosophy of Jeet Kwan Do.

1970 (Age 30) Bruce and Brandon returned to Hong Kong and were welcomed by fans of "The Green Hornet Show". Bruce asked Unicorn to talk to Run Run Shaw about doing a movie for him. However, Shaw rejected this idea because the price Bruce asking for was too high. He suggested that Bruce consider a seven year contract with a lower salary. Bruce declined this offer.

B I O G R A P H Y (1971-1973)

1971 (Age 31) Bruce was approached by Raymond Chow, owner of a new production company, and offered him the lead role in a new film called "The Big Boss".

1971 July (Age 31) The Big Boss opened in Hong Kong and grossed over $3.5 million within three weeks.

1972 (Age 32) "Fist of Fury (released in the U.S. as "The Chinese Connection") released and made more than "The Big Boss", further establishing Bruce as a Hong Kong superstar.

1972 (Age 32) Location shots were made for Bruce's third film, "The Way of the Dragon" (released in the U.S. as "The Return of the Dragon").

1973 April (Age 33) Bruce collapsed for the first time while doing voice dubbing for "Enter The Dragon" at Golden Harvest Studios in Hong Kong.

1973 July 16 (Age 33) Bruce told Unicorn that he was worried about his health. He complained that he has experienced many headaches after the Feng Shui deflector, placed on the roof of Bruce's home was blown off by heavy rain and wind.

1973 July 20 (Age 33) Before leaving Hong Kong for a business trip to Los Angeles, Bruce met Raymond Chow for the plans of the upcoming movie, "Game of Death". Raymond and Bruce visited Ting Pei Betty at her apartment to discuss her role in the movie. Because of the headaches, Bruce took a prescription pain killer that Betty offered, and rested at her home. Raymond left. At 9:00 p.m., Chow received a call from Betty informing him that Bruce was unconscious. Bruce was sent to the hospital immediately and declared dead on arrival because of an apparent cerebral edema (swelling of the brain). Bruce's funeral was held on the 25th July 1973.
