We Won!
Well, our string of Klondike race victories has come to an end. The streak stops at three. But, there are two top awards given at this event, the other being the overall competition award. This event pits scout skills between Troop 6 the scouts from the rest of the District. We won first place in the overall competition which includes first aid, map & compass, knots & lashings, fire building, nature identification, problem solving, and troop spirit. Well done guys!
We have not been to Champlin in a few years. The scouts that attended the Klondike last month at Champlin can't wait to get back there for a weekend of camping. We will be cabin camping, but tent camping will be available for all of our hearty scouts. Lot's of activities planned so plan to attend.
Registration is still not complete! There still are some of you that haven't paid for the new year's registration. Paperwork and registration money was due to Council by Feb. 29. Let's put this behind us and take care of this ASAP.
Yes! The time of year has come around again where we are starting to think about summer camp and summer high adventure. Some monetary deadlines have to be met by the troop so we are asking for a deposit of $50, due March 28, to secure a spot at Yawgoog, the biggest and best Boy Scout camp in the northeast US.
More on our summer activities at the Parent's Night on April 4.
In order to provide the membership with leadership opportunities, we will be having holding troop elections. Don't miss this important meeting so as to make your vote count.
In order for scouts to "earn their way" to the bold summer camp experiences the troop has planned, a series of fundraisers have also been planned. The more the scout participates, the less of a burden these costs will be for their families. Our first will be:
On the heels of this one, we have a candy bar sale that starts on April 5. This one will be run a little differently than we have had in the past. This one will be run totally within the patrols in an effort to foster patrol spirit and inter-patrol competition. A $50 prize will be awarded to the patrol with the highest sales total to be spent, as a patrol, as they see fit.
More on fundraising at the Parent's Night on April 4.
All Troop 6 Scouts, leaders, and their families are invited to Jay Wright's Eagle Court of Honor. This will take the place of the Troop meeting for that week. Please RSVP to Mr. Leffingwell of your plans to attend (with numbers).
All advancement, service stars, fundraising, and our summer program will be discussed.
