History
Qinan was born in Gar Hold on Ista Island to his Fisher parents Timia and Terraeon. As he grew up he learned to love fish, but was never very good at catching things, even the sea itself seemed to reject him. So he spent his spare times tracking inland with the hunters and foresters of the small Hold after he turned 8. During these treks he would pick up sticks of the tropical woods and carve at first littles boats for his siblings and friends. Then later with a little help from one of the old uncles, he made a few stools and other simple objects. His pride was the completion of a very special necklace of such quality that his parents knew their son would never be a Fisherman and sent him north to Lemos for instruction at the WoodCraft Hall.
The Istan tropical woods were not really hard enough for large furnature, but he had done several smaller sculptures and rings which along with the necklace he brought with him to the WoodCraft. Upon arrival he spent several anxious weeks waiting for his time with an interview with the CraftMaster, then Master Salin. During this time he met Malia, the future CraftMaster, who was then only an apprentice and became fast friends, and truely felt welcome at the Hall for the first time.
The fourteen turn old Qinan was accepted into the WoodCraft, and spent several turns as an apprentice, moving up through the ranks fairly quickly. Three turns later he was promoted by the new CraftMaster Malia, then only a mere eighteen turns herself, to Sr. Apprentice and was posted out to Bitra Hold under Journeyman Rullem. Several very instructive turns later he recieved another surprise, well beside yet another loving firelizard, his journeyrank knot. With this came a posting to Benden Weyr, and at age twentytwo he was feeling quite happy with his life. Having never been in a Weyr before, living at Benden came a bit of a shock for the Holdbred Qinan, but he managed to survive the various bed inspections (The weather there is just terrible on the wooden bed frames! One case of rot was so bad he nearly feinted!!) and associated teasing. However after five interesting turns there he was recalled to the WoodCraft Hall to pass on his knowledge as a Master WoodCrafter. The current Apprentice Master stepped down and Qinan took up where he had left off. Two turns later CraftSecond Anwyn fell ill and could not fulfil the duties required of her. Her leaving back to her home hold of Bitra to recover left the position open and Qinan was asked to step in, which he did and has been working hard at it ever since.
It took a turn for him to gather up himself and what was needed before he proposed with the woman he had always been in love with...Malia. To his delight she accepted his proposition and the two were married. As CraftMaster and CraftSecond for the WoodCraft their relationship only enhances the Hall's productivity...and gossip. Now blessed with three children and is that another expected he only hopes that others can find the happiness that he has.

Wardrobe Cabinet
This cabinet is constructed of the golden-brown teakwood. It has been finished with an almost clear finish so that the natural color and beauty shines through. It stands seven feet high and is five feet wide and has been sanded to a smooth soft texture giving an unseemly luxery to the wood. The two large doors are each a solid piece of this beautiful wood. A raised curved edging outlines each door so that they appear windows through which the scene unfolded upon them can be viewed. The front has been seemlessly inlayed with woods lightly dyed in varying shades to accent the realism of the scene. On the bottom of the doors rich fields of wheat roll in a slight breeze. Behind the fields rise majestic mountains. Shaded a bluegrey they reach so far up into the sky that they are lightly dusted with snow. High above in the turbulent air seven dragons ride. The lead three are placed on the right door with the other four trailing on the left. They are stretched out in the manner of a sweep ride or perhaps a lesson in flight for these lovely dragons ride the currents with practiced ease each caught in a diferent stroke of flight. The lead dragon is a large deep bronze followed on either side by a striped brown and sky blue. The other four trailing on the left door are different shades of green. These four range from a light almost transluscent celadon green to a deep sparkling emerald green. You may 'open' these lovely doors and take a look at the contents within.
Mirror
A beautifully carved and inlaid mirror. Made from a strong lemosian wood this piece has been stained ligtly bringing forth the natural grain in the wood. The inlay on the head consists of a light tropical wood, normally soft the stain has hardened it and yet left the corordinated redbrown and grey coloring intact. The handle is lightly carved to give the impression of entwining tail while the body head and wings of the two firelizards rests within the head of the piece. On either side of the mirror resides, wings outstretched, a firelizard. Their open jaws seem to echo with silent admiration the images formed within the polished surface. As curious as the creatures are their creator has managed to give the impression with slightly bent necks and grasping claws that each is trying to get the best view. This decorative piece fits comfortably into your hand and you can even 'lookin' to the finely polished glassen surface to see what is so highly admired.
Grape Goblets
Commisioned by Sachi
This is a pair of goblets carved out of a light yet strong wood. The wood seems almost bleached as you run your fingers along the smooth surface. Its sandy color given a simialr texture by the woods own fine grain. The goblets are simply carved. The stem flows up from the base. A solid and simple spiral which holds firmly to the bowl of the goblet. Around the brim of the goblet's a thin green vine weaves itself sagging in four places holding firmly to several clumps of vibrantly purple grapes.
Three Chair Set
Commisioned By Kena
This is a set of three chairs. They have been sanded smooth and finished with only a light staining so that the natural grain of the wood shows through. The first chair is much more ornate than the other two being specifically intended for one person.
The reading chair, fitted for Kena, is the most ornate. The high back of the chair is slightly curved in for many comfortable hours resting in its embrace. A gently carved pattern of numbweed leaves work themselves up the edges of the chair to the very top, upon which a large dragon hovers, wings downswept, holding the last two twining leaves together in his claws. The two arms are just a bit shorter than usual, and tapered so they are wider at the end which finishes in a spiral curl. The seat of the chair opens in an outward taper as well with soft curved edges. A light, soft blue cusion rests upon the seat for added support. Four sturdy legs seem to sprout from the seat's bottom and reach down to the floor. This gives an athestic look as well as functional design.
The other two chairs are simpler images of the first and mirror images of eachother. They are not fitted to one individual but made for any who wishes to rest within. The high carved backs, tapered arms, and sturdy legs easily support even the heaviest of frames.
