Review

HBR One woman alone against an army of… cat girls and belly dancing crystals? Armed with only your flying sandals, yellow ribbon, code number, and magic nipple? (watch the intro) Pleasant weirdness aside, after all this is Japanese, at least your not riding a broom, the game isn’t too bad. The graphics are cartoony and chock full of cute. But its fairly well designed, levels vary in motif, this is a side scrolling shooter so the environment plays a part in the action in this case obscuring shots and allowing for ricochets.

Your weapons (shot out of you hand) comes in four flavors. Normal, shoots a double shot straight forward and then an aim-able shot, aimed by going the opposite direction you want to shoot (like integral arm DX or aiming the mosquito in Mars Matrix). Wide, shoots a three way pink wave shot forward and a locked shot backwards. Laser, my personally weapon of choice, shoots a green laser in a spread shot forward the two diagonal beams ricochet making it easier to take out obscured enemies and the like. B(omb?), a black energy orb is shot out at an extremely close range and will destroy bullets and hurt enemies, due to the incredibly short range its pretty useless. Your panic bomb (the Z button, which I mention because space is fire), is quite nice looking a flashing pink heart surrounds you for a second or so and the releases a circle or probably 20 or 30 shadow images of you, quite effective.

When killed enemies drop tokens which fly in an arc of screen, they go for points and bonus. The game itself isn’t too hard if you have laser or wide especially because most enemies come in from the upper right or upper left of the screen.

Score: 6.5: a nice looking 15-20 minutes
