Basic Dog Biscuit: You need
- 1/3 cup margarine
- 3/4 cup hot water (you can use chicken broth, etc. instead)
- 1/2 cup powdered milk
- 1 beaten egg
- 3 cups of whole wheat flour
Steps: - Pour the hot liquid over the margarine
- Stir in the powdered milk and egg
- Add 1/2 cup of flour at a time, until finished, mixing well after each 1/2 cup
- Knead the mixture and add more flour if necessary, until the mixture is stiff
- Roll dough to 1/2 inch thickness and cut out pieces with cookie cutter, knife, etc.
- Put pieces on a greased baking sheet
- Bake for 50 minutes at 325 degrees.
Salmon Treats for cats (or dogs): You need:
- 4 oz. canned salmon
- 1 egg
- 1 Tbs. fresh parsley
- 1/2 Tbs. kelp powder (Health food stores)
- 1 tsp. shredded dulse (Health food stores)
- 1+2/3 cup unbleached flour
Steps: - Drain the salmon
- Mix the ingredients, adding more flour if needed
- Roll the dough as thinly as possible
- Roll pieces of dough into tiny balls
- Bake for 1/2 hour at 375 degrees. Leave them in the oven for a couple of hours after you turn it off.

Rootin' Tootin' Wild West Corn Muffins
Here's what you need:
- 1+3/4 cups of cornmeal
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 tablespoon vegetable shortening
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup skim milk
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1/2 cup corn
- 1+1/2 teaspoons rosemary
Here's how: - Preheat oven to 450 degrees (F).
- In a large bowl, stir together cornmeal, baking powder, baking soda and shortening.
- In a separate bowl, whisk eggs until foamy, then whisk in buttermilk, skim milk and honey.
- Pour wet mixture into the cornmeal mixture and fold in corn and rosemary. Mix well.
- Spoon half full into greased muffin tin and bake for 10-15 minutes until golden and firm.
Cold Nose Coco Loco Bark Bars Here's what you need:
- 7 oz. canned unsweetened fruit cocktail
- 3/8 cup honey
- 1 egg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1+1/8 cup white flour
- 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
Here's how: - Preheat oven to 350 degrees (F).
- Drain fruit cocktail and set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine honey and eggs. Add fruit cocktail and vanilla and mix thoroughly.
- Combine the flour and baking soda in a separate bowl, then add this to the wet mixture and stir well.
- Pour into a 8x8-inch greased baking pan and sprinkle the top with coconut and walnuts.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, then cool and cut into bars.
German Shepherd's Pie Here's what you need:
- 1 cup cooked ground turkey
- 1 cup shredded low-fat Cheddar cheese
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 3 tablespoons chopped green bell pepper
- 3 tablespoons chopped red bell pepper
- 1 cup skim milk
- 1/4 cup white flour
- 2 eggs
Here's how: - Preheat oven to 375 degrees (F).
- In a 10-inch pie pan, layer the ground turkey, cheese, garlic and peppers.
- In a separate bowl, stir together milk, flour and eggs.
- Pour over meat and cheese layers, but do not stir.
- Bake for 30 minutes. When pie is cooled, cut into wedges. (Store leftovers in refrigerator.)
I-TAIL-IAN Meatballs Here's what you need:
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup grated Romano cheese
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 tablespoon sweet basil
- 1 tablespoon parsley flakes
- 1/4 cup bread crumbs
Here's how - Mix all ingredients in a large bowl until well blended.
- Roll mixture into balls and fry in a small amount of oil on high heat until the outsides are browned, but not cooked through.
- Turn heat down to low and continue cooking for 20-25 minutes. Cool before serving. Store in a sealed container in the refirigerator.
