The audio level on this disc is VERY LOW. It's poorly mixed with
bass and drums dominating the sound. However, if you turn the
bass way down and the volume way up, you can actually coax a
pretty decent sound out of this disc with the last few tracks
being the most listenable.
The liner notes indicate that "studio chatter is present" and
other members "noodling around". This is a gross exaggeration
or even just a bold faced lie. Unless, you consider Dave saying
"Take one" at the begining of track #9 to be "studio chatter".
Any "extra noodling" cannot be heard.
The cover of the disc is EXACTLY like the official WACF release
except that the background is red instead of green. The liner
notes are copied directly from the offical release, too, but with
the following paragraph added:
"Contained on this CD are working versions of the songs that appeared
on the finished album. The tracks are in various stages of completion,
while some have different lyrics, others have no vocals at all! Studio
chatter is present on some, on others various members can be heard
noodling around on their respective instruments and so on. The
variations are numerous and a good listen proves to be a fascinating
study in observing a particular period of one of the most innovative
and successful bands ever to emerge on the rock scene. Van Halen,
Warner Special Projects and The Van Halen Fan Club have made a limited
edition of this CD available to members only, free of charge as a thank
you for their unfailing support and dedication over the years."
In the top left corner of the liner notes, there is the number
"PRO-5150". On the back of the CD, again a direct ripoff of the
official release (with different track list obviously).
The following line was added just above the copyright notice:
"FAN CLUB ISSUE ONLY - NOT FOR SALE PRO-5150"
Adjacent to the WB logo, is a Roaring Mouse logo.
The rest of the inside has four large individual pictures and one
small group shot. It has the same credits, with the following
differences:
On the real WACF:
"Cover Concept, Creative Consultant, Road Production
Director: Pete Angelus".
"Assistant to the Manager: Diane Livingston.
Art Director: Richard Seireeni."
On the Studio Sessions:
"Cover Concept, Creative Consultant: The Fool and The
Atomic Punk. Art Director Pete Angelus."
"Assistant to the Manager: Diane Livingston. Art
Directors: The Fool and The Atomic Punk."
Guitar Technician: Robin "Rude" Leiren on the original has a line
over the "e" on Rude, on the Studio Session, no line over the "e".
The disc itself is plain with simple text and with NO reference to
Van Halen or WB at all. The title of the disc is "Buns and Tits First"
and the number is BTF-449. It also indicates the disc is DDD and has
the standard "all rights reserved" notice on there.
