Legislative Branch
Judicial Branch

US Congressman: Frank Wolf
Frank Wolf has represented the 10th district in Virginia since 1980.  He is the chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on
Commerce-Justice-State and the Judiciary. From 1995-2000, Congressman Wolf was the chairman of the Transportation Appropriations subcommitee.  In keeping with his commitment to preserve high-quality federal workforce, Frank Wolf has worked
for many family-friendly workplace policies such as child care, job sharing, leave sharing, flexitime,  flexiplace and telecommuting.

US Senator: John Warner
Warner is a Republican from Virginia who  began his twenty-fifth year of service in the United States Senate on January 7, 2003 after having been elected to his fifth term on November 5, 2002. Intelligence.

Major Presidential Candidates 2004:

Democrats
Republicans
Joe Biden
George W. Bush
Carol Moseley Braun
Wesley Clark
 Dick Gephardt
John Edwards
Joe Lieberman
Dennis Kusinich
Al Sharpton
Howard Dean

* George Bush ~ He was the GOP nominee for Congress, 1978 . Senior Advisor, George Bush for President Campaign, 1988. Governor of Texas, 1995-December 2000 (Elected 1994, re-elected 1998). President of the United States, 2001-present (Elected 2000 - 47.9% - 271 Electoral Votes)

* Joe Biden ~ First elected to the Senate in 1972 as a challenger at the age of 29, Biden matured and became a respected Senate leader.  Biden has built a fairly centrist voting record in the Senate -- and has won his re-election races by wide margins.

* Carol Moseley Braun ~ State Representative, 1979-87; Cook County Recorder of Deeds, 1988-92; US Senator, 1993-99 (elected in 1992; lost for re-election in 1998); Special Consultant, US Department of Education, 1999; US Ambassador to New Zealand, 1999-2001. [Note: Braun was the first African-American Democrat to serve in the US Senate and the first African-American female to serve in the US Senate.

* Wesley Clark ~ Starting in late 2002, retired 4-star Army General Wesley Clark began flirting with a possible run for President in 2004 (or, maybe, in 2008).  On top of his forays into early 2004 primary states, Clark is also doing military analysis for CNN and plans to start a non-profit educational organization focusing on foreign policy. Clark has yet to formally declare he is a Democrat -- but he has let people know he would run as a Democrat (if he runs).

* Dick Gephardt ~ Former US House Minority Leader Dick Gephardt started as one of the few first-tier Democratic candidates for 2004.  St. Louis City Alderman, 1971-76; US Congressman, 1977-present; US House Majority Leader, 1989-95; US House Minority Leader, 1995-2003; Candidate for President, 1988.

* John Edwards ~ One of the earliest hopefuls to start criss-crossing the nation for the 2004 Presidential race.  He is currently a U.S. Senator, 1999-present (elected 1998).  He is a popular, telegenic, multimillionaire trial attorney -- first gained national attention on his first bid for political officer in 1998 when he ousted GOP incumbent US Senator Lauch Faircloth in a major upset.

* Joe Lieberman ~ Senator Joe Lieberman shot into the national spotlight as Al Gore's VP runningmate in 2000. State Senator, 1970-80 (State Senate Majority Leader, 1974-80); Candidate for Lieutenant Governor, 1978; Democratic nominee for US Congress, 1980; Attorney General, 1983-88; US Senator, 1989-present (elected in 1988; re-elected in 1994 & 2000); Democratic nominee for Vice President, 2000; Chair, Democratic Leadership Council, 1995-2001; Founder, New Democrat Network, 1996.

* Dennis Kusinich ~ Dennis Kucinich is the Chair of Congressional Progressive Caucus and was one of the most unexpected names to be floated in the P2004 race.Cleveland City Councilman, 1970-75 & 1983-85; Democratic nominee for Congress, 1972; Cleveland Clerk of Municipal Courts, 1975-77; Mayor of Cleveland, 1977-79 (elected in 1977; defeated for re-election in 1979); State Senator, 1995-97; US Congressman, 1997-present (elected in 1996, re-elected in 1998, 2000 & 2002).

* Al Sharpton ~ The controversial Rev. Al Sharpton is going to stand out as one of the more flamboyant 2004 candidates. While he stands no real chance of winning the nomination, look for him to grab headlines with his publicity-seeking tactics.  Candidate for State Senate, 1978; Candidate for US Senate, 1992 & 1994; Candidate for New York City Mayor, 1997

* Howard Dean ~ State Representative, 1983-87; Lieutenant Governor, 1987-91 (elected in 1986, re-elected in 1988, 1990); Governor, 1991-2003 (elected in 1992, re-elected in 1994, 1996, 1998 & 2000); Chair, National Governors Association, 1994-95; Chair, Democratic Governors Association, 1997.

*** I support***  John Edwards because although he is young and does not have very many years of experience in politics I agree with most of his political views, he is a liberal Democrat.  Some of his views consist of opposing tax cuts, increase spending for education, and he is an environmentalist.  He also wants to increase spending on defense and reform healthcare.

d) Political Humor

Cartoon
This Cartoon criticizes the future plans of allowing citizens to own semi-automatic weapons.  Next year the Bush administration plans to end the ban that stops citizens from having them.  The cartoon illustrates that although the man may appear to be a "law abiding" citizen he really is a sociopath who just does not have a criminal record yet and is still permitted to purchase a gun.
