Hey Everyone! This is my mod photo album page. This is my current comp I am using. I fabricated the case out of neon orange acrylic. The acrylic acts almost like fiber optics, the light is dispersed throughout the plastic, giving the case warm glow at night, the edges of the case radiate the most light, I like this effect very much because it accents the edges, giving it a retro feel. The hardware setup is just the basic setup with a AMD 1800, Geforce fx5600 ultra, Microstar mobo, Custom fabricated acrylic case, and a mod power supply.
This case took me about two weeks to complete. In the beginning I started with two standard dell case frames, I then Created a frame using the parts from each, so i could get the right size, strength and of coarse look. After the construction of the frame, I moved onto the power supply. I started with a normal 260 watt power supply, Then I fabricated some new aluminum heat sinks to radiate heat much more efficiently, I then remounted the power supply in the bottom right on the picture above. Because I mounted the power supply down at the bottom, my cable management became allot easier, but the down side was I had to mount the power input on the back, but it was well worth it. After i completed mounting all the necessary parts, I began on the construction of the acrylic case. I order 4foot by 2foot piece of neon orange acrylic. After I received the acrylic in the mail, I began to make the lid. I used a large strip heater to make precise bends to insure a good fit. The back and front panels we also made with acrylic, although the back was done in blue acrylic. After all of the case creation, I moved onto lighting, for this project i decided just to use high intensity LED's. The LED's were not just for lighting, I also used them as resistors for my fans, for i have 4 fans and that can get pretty noisy without some tweaking.
The picture above show the layout of everything, although this picture doesn't really show it, it is very clean inside.
The picture above shows the case glowing in the day, isn't sweet?
