Norsk Course
23rd July 2003 4:27am (1027H)
Just woke up.. had my 1st taste of Norsk (Norwegian language) yesterday. The course is really intensive. Each day we will be having 3 sessions of lessons which will total up to 5 hours a day. Its quite difficult lor. At first still can manage abit but the teacher was quite fast lor.. in the end, I was quite lost liao.. got so many words to learn and memorize .. realize my linguistic skills are not very zai..
Sianz.. by the way, have I mentioned that we reali have to walk a lot juz to get from one place to another. For example, from my room to Dragvoll where I have my Norwegian lessons is about 40mins walk. The buses do not operate veri frequently lor and each ride costs around S$5 lor.. siao one lor… Then the main university is located on a hill and the student village is even further uphill. These two days I walked until my feet oso kenna blister liao.. damn
Yesterday, after the lessons, me and Kwang Chin had to rush back to the Post Office to pay the deposit for our rooms. After paying, the internet and phone connection will be enabled. But somehow, I still cant get the LAN to work leh.. Anywae, we had to rush downhill to find the rest of the Norwegian course people to join them for a city tour of Trondheim.
When we finally found the Tourist Information Centre, we were already 45mins late, and everyone left liao. So we just walk arnd ourselves, hoping that we can meet up with one of the groups. Went to the Nidaros Cathedral where we met a few groups there. The town centre is actuali quite small lor.. ntg much interesting except for a few places such as the old harbour “Bryggene”. After the tour, the organizers of the language course have a bbq for us. The food was free!!! Haha, we were damn happy lor, although its juz bread and sausages and some meatballs, we can save some money on dinner mah.. =)
Oh yah, the stupid KLM airline called me to tell me they found our luggage liao and will send it to Moholt reception in a few hours’ time. But as the reception was already closed, we went to the reception area to wait a while and hopefully, our luggage will come.. in the end , we decided that its waste of time, so we went to the supermarket to see if there is any “buy-able” food to help us survive. Managed to buy a 2-litres apple juice for 15kr which is arnd S$3+.. and a box of cheese for arnd S$5+.. their milk and cereal oso quite cheap compared to the rest of the food.. shall buy those next time.. btw, the eggs are 50-60 cents each!!
The weather here quite screwed up one.. juz as we are leaving the student village (Moholt), its starts to rain .. so we went back our rooms to get our jackets. Den halfway downhill slope, the rain stops and the sun came back. It quite difficult to describe the weather lar… normally in the morning and afternoon, the sun is 蛮晒的 but the air is rather cooling oso.. its like u will feel hot and cold all the time. Since the sun never reali sets, u can only tell whether its afternoon or nite by the weather. B’cos the weather gets cooler as nightfall approaches..
All their buildings dun have air-con one. Or at least the ones I been to, including my room, dun have any. So usually, when I go to bed I had to leave my window open or else its veri 闷 in the room. But in the middle of the nite, I have to close the window as it will be too cold liao.
Shall go revise abit of norwegien liao or else later the lesson sure die one..
