U.S. Events

On this day, October 19, 1987, the stock market fell about 508points.  That was almost double the drop that caused the great depression.  In the year of 1981, a solar plane took flight.  It is very hard to fly these things because you need sunlight.  One cloud could cause you to hit the ground.  Well one man challenged himself this year and flew for  5 hours and 22 minutes.

Music/Literature

The music of the 80’s was like no other. It had it’s own type of beats and melodies. Whatever it was it was the most popular things around. You would often hear famous songs like Sweet sensations by Stephanie Mills, and Rock With You by Michael Jackson. Literature was also apart of the 80’s. You would often find things by authors like Alice Walker, Stephen King, and Judy Blume.

Pop Culture

Pop was very important to the people of the 80s. Lots of things happened when it came to pop culture.  Some of the greatest tv shows to ever come out came out during the 80’s.  One example of this was The Cosby Show.  The way to dress was to feather your hair, turn up your collar, and splash on some Polo.  Many people’s favorite candy were whistle pops, nerds, and pop rock candy.
