*Dorothy's Restuarant Review: Delifrance* *Overall rating: 2/5 *Recommended food: The soup was pretty nice actually. Delifrance - What are these black bits doing in my coffee? Delifrance has always been seen as one of those nice French style cafes offering high standard foods. Kind of like Olivers. However, I was mega DISAPPOINTED today when I ordered from Delifrance. Ewwie Cheese Puff: 3/5 I ordered a cheese puff (those pastry thingies) and a "Mocha Crunch Frappe" (even though I felt like I was betraying Starbucks). It is always messy when eating puff pastry...it's all flakey and takes ages to eat if you want to look normal while eating it. The first few bites of my pastry were pretty ok. However, in less than 2 minutes, the cheese in the centre became all hard and gross. When melted cheese becomes cool and hard again, it's pretty gross, sometimes on stuff like pizzas etc. I only had the cheese puff for 2 minutes and the cheese is already going all horrible!! Totally gross mocha: 1/5 However, the puff pastry could NEVER compare with the next thing I had. Mocha Crunch Frappe. Firstly, it tasted NOTHING like mocha. It was more like those coffee drinks you make at home using those instant coffee granules. Mocha and coffee are different so why did the mocha taste like coffee? The "crunch" in the mocha turned out to be small bits of coffee beans (I think) that looked more like the black rubber bits on our school field. The coffee beans in the mocha tasted weird anyways. It seemed as if they had forgotten to mix the mocha properly causing black bits to float onto the surface. I was really wondering if they had intended to put the coffee beans or was the mocha just not mixed thoroughly enough. I had expected so much more from Delifrance and looking at their paper napkins with "Delifrance - The Best Cafe" written on them made me think "Says who?". |
