Vatsim Pre-Flight Pilot Checklist
- Start Flight Simulator
- Go to gate of your choice at any airport. (Remember never start on the runway when using Vatsim or any other Live ATC program.
- Switch to the Aircraft of your choice.
- Go to multi-player settings and enable Shoqw player names and make sure both boxes in the Visual detail Box are checked.
- Go to multi-player connect. Enter the Callsign you would like to use and press Host button.
- Set Players to 16 and Observers to 8 and enter any session name ,then press connect
- FS 2002 users go to Modules and select Host SB . All other users go back to windows and select your Hostsb.mdl
- Start the Main SquawkBox program and enter all of your real information. (Vatsim requires you to enter all information correctly that you used in your application to Vatsim)
- Once in Squawkbox make sure you put your Aircraft in Squawk Standby mode. This is a precautionary messure and most ATC Prefer your in STBY until told to activate.
- Make a Habit of making your Flight plan Before even connecting to Multi-player. Normally this way you can be off the ground in and AVG of 10 to 15 minutes once initial call is made to ATC.

As we all know there are many versions of simulators out there. There are also many different systems with different performance ratings. The Procedures I have included in this page for connecting to squawkbox are the Basic procedures for any pilot based on information provided by Squawkbox developers.
