I made this bezel for my customer because he needed

a different shape for his Dial. I had to fit the existing  case ornaments

to conform with the new bezel shape. This job was done in

18 karat red gold.

I Made this bezel for this Baume and Mercier from 14 karat gold

and diamond lapped it . You will notice that the finish is absolutely

flat and flawless. This is due to the perfect cutting

edge of the diamond.

There are several ways bezels are made. Silver and gold bezels are made from a length of material of proper with, thickness, and length all calculated from the size of the case with the dial and movement also considered. The stock is bent in a circular shape trued up and the ends soldered so as not to show a seam. Precise diameters and heights are taken from the host case with the movement and dial in place. The prepared material is then machined on a lathe till the new bezel fits properly on its host case. All the necessary clearances are filed by hand for the lift and latch springs, steady pins, spring screws and set lever. The bezel is polished and fitted with a suitable crystal. Brass and stainless steel bezels are made from solid stock cut from a round bar. Again sizes are taken and machined on a lathe. Clearances are filed and then the polishing is performed. The bezel is washed and if made of brass, gold plated.
