Tastee Freez of Davenport, is located along the banks of the Mississippi river in Iowa and Illinois, in an area called the Quad Cities. The Quad cities consists of five cities: Moline, East Moline, Rock Island, Illinois and Bettendorf, Davenport, Iowa.Tastee Freez of Davenport has been in business since 1954, while Tastee Freez franchises have been around since 1950.
We are among one of the oldest Tastee Freez franchises, along with 13 more independently owned stores in Iowa and Illinois.
The building has not changed much since 1954 except for repairs. We are still a two window walk-up service with a few outside tables.
When the store first opened its doors in 1954 we just served soft serve ice cream. A few years later we started serving pop, chips and hot dogs. Now we serve all types of sandwiches and side orders along with Tastee Freez soft serve ice cream.
A fact that some of our loyal customers may not know is, this Tastee Freez has only had three owners in its 50 year history. The previous owner, operated the business for 38 years. She sold the business in 1994 to the current owner-operators.
We have been an active supporter of the Davenport West End Little League for many years and the Pony League in 2002 and 2003. We have also helped sponsor a local race car for two years.
