Ticking Away

The clock ticks soundly, until the end,
A race against time, for time we spend,
All is lost in emptiness, forever once it is forgotten,
For better still is what we want, once it's what's thought won,
For all is lost, despite the gain, because time bears a grin,
Time brings death, and also pain, and time is wearing thin,
What wasted now, is gone for good, and never does come back,
The past is gone, and should be lost, for no one can keep track,
The future comes, and gives us life, and opens up the gate,
We face the facts, we face the lies, and then we face our fate.
