History of Motorsport 1900-Present

"...and HERE COMES DAMON HILL IN THE WILLIAMS!!!!.....this car is absolutely unique!....except for the one behind it....which is exactly the same..." -
Murray Walker

An introduction to the world of motorsport from it's initial tests in Skodas to the 50s glory days where Maserati and Mercedes were still king on a good day. Whittling down to the circuit races of the 80s, the guide covers most forms of staple motorsport.

Welcome to 333's reference area. Unlike much of the site, what you see here very stays the same and can be used for any young (or old) researcher looking for a good, short introduction to the world of car racing. I've tried to whittle down the information into no more than just a few good paragraphs per section which I hope helps.

I've also done some prioritising in my organisation of the four sectors; they are named Grand Prix, Rally, Saloon Car Racing and Various. I think these pretty much sum up a lot of the motorsports which have developed over the past century of the motorcar's existence.

But exactly why did I set up this quiet little section? Simple. 333 is a site I wish many people to view casually and I saw this as a good opportunity to do something very few personal homepages have tried much before: to neutralise. I recognise that many people would feel my pain when they see how achingly common these American 'muscle car' sites are and how many others fail to sum up Motorsport in a universal way which takes in the entire world. So while 333 is a British site I thought I'd also take some time to pay tribute to the sports which have honestly had a lasting effect on things. That is, as opposed to those which merely win popularity contests in one given country.

If any of the images in these pages are yours, I apologise: just give me a shout via Support and I'll have your queries sorted in due time. Thank you.
