Medical Dictionary & Spellchecker

05 November 2004

It is about near impossible to obtain a free medical spellchecker for MS Word. The easiest & cheapest solution is to download these 2 medical lists, then incorporate into MS Word.

MS Word Spellchecker

For those who have some experience with MS Word, I have customised medical dictionaries. To use these files, download, unzip and add the file(s) to your main hard drive. After this, choose tools on MS Word, then choose the Spelling & Grammar tab. Whilst here, choose dictionaries, then choose the add option: the operator will then be prompted to guide MS Word to the stored files.

Medspeller1: this file carries 25,000 medical words in American English format that can be added on to the usual dictionary.

Medspeller2: this file carries 25,000 medical words in the British format as well as Latin. Many of the words here are pompous & redundant. I personally do not use this dictionary, but for those inclined, feel free to incorporate them into MS Word.
