This is the first Sonic game on the Genesis, Sonic the Hedgehog.  It was first released in 1991, then released again in a special Sega Classic box sometime in 1996.

The plot of the game was very simple:  Robotnik captures all of Sonic's forest friends and turns them into robots.  You play as Sonic and destroy all of the 'badniks' as they are called to save his friends.  You also have to find the six Chaos Emeralds, a very strong power source that Robotnik wants so he can rule Mobius.  If you get all six emeralds, you can get a good ending.  Otherwise, the ending won't be that fun.

There are six zones, seven if you include the final zone, that are three acts long.  In case you need help, I'm going to provide a walkthrough with codes and secrets that would really help.  It's coming soon, so keep watching.

MY REVIEW

Overall, it's a good game.   A great debut for Sonic on the Genesis.  However, they could have made the zones a little more challenging; one time I finished act 1 of Green Hill Zone in 30 seconds!

The Game Gear version is pretty much the same as the Genesis version, except the zones are different.   Spring Yard, Star Light, and Marble Zone have been replaced with Bridge, Jungle, and Sky Base Zone.
