Now
onto other things to look out for
There are no codes for the hidden tower. Anyone who claims to have a code is just a stupid scammer. Report them to abuse and the account they were posting that in as well as all their other accounts will be frozen!
If something looks too good to be true, chances are it is. There are no secret codes to become rich over night; there is no magic web page that gives you 1 million neopoints. Nobody has ever cracked, hacked, broken into or tricked NeoPets and no one will EVER be selling Faeries for 1NP. If someone ever asks you to give them something, do not give it to them. There is no guarantee you will get anything in return. Report them to abuse@neopets.com, and we will stop them scamming anybody else.
There are no codes for the hidden tower, no codes for fish neggs, no codes for petpets, no codes for paint brushes and no codes for faeries. In fact the only thing there are codes for is Tug-O-War. These codes just release extra characters, it doesn't make you win.
Here’s a question
many ask: Someone
said they would give me a secret if I gave them an item, should I do it?
No, this is yet another scam to trick you into giving away a rare item, or to
buy an overpriced item. There are no secrets to becoming a millionaire. The
best way to do this is to open your own shop, sell things at fair prices and
play games.
As a rule if
you haven't seen it on New Features, it doesn't exist. If someone asks
you to give them something in return for information, don’t do it. If it’s real
you can find it out for free by asking people on the message boards. All legitimate
information is available for free somewhere on the site.
The
official Neopets Team account is theneopetsteam. If you get a message
from anybody else, it is a fake. If you get a message asking for your password,
or asking you to do something, it is a fake. No member of staff will EVER ask
for your password, if anyone does ask you for it, please report them to abuse@neopets.com.
The only Neomails you will get from Neopets staff will be official warnings from theneopetsteam if you do anything wrong.
Fake logins: If EVER you see a log in page, make sure that the URL (address at the top of the page) says http://www.neopets.com/loginpage.phtml. If you enter your username and password, your details will then be emailed to them and they will have full access to your account. And you know what that means…you lose your account and have to start over.
Log out - If you use Neopets in a public place such as a school or library, be sure to log out when you are done. To log out, simply click on 'Log Out' on the yellow side bar.
If you are thinking of leaving NeoPets and DON'T want to play anymore then follow these steps:
protect yourself from scams - go to http://www.neopets.com/security.phtml and read it.
Basically
there are THREE RULES to remember and you will be safe:
1) Do NOT give your
password to ANYONE, no matter what they promise.
2) Only trade using the Island Trading Post
3) If anyone sends you a message and says they are NeoPets staff, unless they
are using the user name theneopetsteam, they are most probably lying
Always report scammers to http://www.neopets.com/autoform.phtml or abuse@neopets.com
Contests:
This question was in the Neopian Times Editorial
: What do you mean by 'No Contests'?
It means no contests, lotteries, raffles, competitions, caption contests, mystery
pic contests, anything where a user has to do something to have a chance of
winning. Honest give-aways in the Money Tree are fine, but any form of competition
is not permitted.
I am afraid there are no contests allowed anywhere on Neopets. There is no way
to make sure that the contests are legitimate. The majority of contest winners
are just friends of the shop owner, (if the shop is running a contest), or fake
accounts. Neopets know a few people did award prizes to real winners, but there
is no way for them to check this so they have no choice but to ban them completely.
All contests have been banned. This includes both shops
and guilds.
Don't participate in them and don't buy from shops that have them.
