Why? What got me here? Playing third-fiddle in a show will do it. No real work involved. My part is quite simple and I'm doing fine. But it's not rewarding. It's theater karma points perhaps. Running? Haven't been able to put together a decent week in months. Weight over #221. “Learning?” Enjoyable reading. Decent progress on Khan Academy in five subjects. But to what purpose? Who cares? Knowledge for the sake of acquring knowledge.

Perhaps it's all the articles about depression in males that have been popping up in my in-box. Perhaps it's the bifurcated youth I'm dealing with: the fresh-faced idealistic college bound kids and the dead-enders who are going, literally and figuratively nowhere. Perhaps it's the political climate. Perhaps it's the fact that I have to keep my mouth shut SO MUCH in the classroom. Perhaps it's the long string of bad choices I've made over the last decade.

Turning 59 has hit me hard and negatively. And June better be a damned good month. Because I need a win.
