For those of you unfamiliar, Grimm is a tv show in which our hero is descended from the Grimm Brothers and can "see" the Wesin (or storybook monsters) who usually appear as normal people.  When he spots one the SFX crew jumps into high gear - the Wesin's head shakes a moment and the kind of "flex" into the visage of the creature they are.  They hold this look for about 5-10 seconds before morphing back into human form. 

Playing poker last night with 5 others.  It's a semi-regular game.  I knew 3 of the others were libs, unsure of the other2.  Been playing in this game for 2-3 years.  Started at 7pm and about 8:30 somebod brought up the pending SCOTUS decisions - and for 5-10 seconds I found myself at a table full of Wesin.  Their true faces wre revelaed as their slathering, bile disgorging mouths began spewing some of the most hateful stuff Id heard in person in quite a while.  And then all returned to normal, as if nothing had happened.  An hour later and the election came up.  Another 10 second "Hate" and a return to noirmalcy.  I honestly felt that if I revealed my true identity  I would betorn to bitson the spot.

Most of you know I don't usually back away from a good fight.  I was outnumbered 5-1, the youngest of the pack and among individuals I otherwise admired and respected for their intelectual and professional achievements.  One central Ohio broadcaster, two accompished actor/directors, a genius level business man and a judge.  So rather than bang my head destructively against the thick wall of dogma, I sat quietly, waited for the storm to pass, ept from vomiting at the dsgusting display, and attempted to enjoy my evening. 

It was an even I won't soon forget.

solid pace w/o this afternoon ... a bit of stupidty though ..... did 4x800, was a bit slow over the first 600 of the last one so I stretched out over the next 100 and really popped the last one.  Made pace but will probably pay for it by tomorrow afternoon.

The coming week:  Tomorrow:  another assault on the nonstop 2 mile. M: core strength     T: 3-4x1000x5:30     W: core strength     Th: 2-3 miles easy road work     F: try to get something in before I hit the road for NYC     Sa:  wedding     Su: driving home.  M&T: final exams.  W: Independance Day and ready for July time trials.

Dim reality hit this week as improvement slowed.  I'm actually getting better in four directions.  Some weeks there will be a leap in one or two of them, other weeks there will be leaps in different ones. 

Vector 1.  Speed.  Have dropped times significantly in all distances due mainly to an improvement in the other three.

Vector 2.  Aerobic capacity.  Needs improvement.  Roadwork and some track work is moving in that direction.  Could be months before it gets where it "needs to be."

Vector 3.  Weight.  Hit the pretty 210 this week.  Haven't been there since last Halloween.  Hope to blow past 205 and see 200 by Labor Day.

Vector 4.  Body fat.  Have been in the mid 25% rance for most of the last decade.  Getting into the low 20's.  Below 20 will be good and below 15 will be ... um ... surprising.

Had a pleasant evening last night but a crappy week that I'm still carrying around so I'll start the day pissy.

I HATE the EPA.  I HATE the fact that, if one opposes the assinine destructive regulation that IS the EPA we "want dirty air and dirty water".

A half-century ago, John Pozsgai emigrated to America from Hungary. Twenty-five years later, he bought a hunk of land in Morrisville, Pennsylvania, that had been used as an illegal dumping ground for used tires and old car parts. Pozsgai wanted to build a garage on the land. So he hauled away the old tires—7,000 of them—and the rusty scrap metal, and hauled in clean fill dirt and topsoil.

Sometimes when it rained, the tires caused water to build up on the property. In the eyes of the federal government, that made it a wetland. Federal agents used surveillance cameras to record Pozsgai’s cleanup activity and had him arrested for “discharging pollutants”—i.e., the fill dirt and topsoil—“into the waters of the United States.” Convicted, he got a three-year prison sentence and a $200,000 fine. If federal regulators have their way, writes A. Barton Hinkle, America could see a lot more John Pozsgais in its future.

President Barack Obama's 1995 memoir, we've learned in recent days, is chock full of "lies and serious exaggerations." Thirty eight to be exact.

I think I can say without false modesty, a huge win; I (and those of like mind) have been right about everything.

Answering questions from reporters today, Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi previewed her party's likely legislative response should the Supreme Court strike down ObamaCare's health coverage requirement, suggesting that Democrats will look for a functional alternative to the mandate — a way to mandate insurance coverage without running afoul of the Constitution: 

You have to eat your vegetables — you have to have the mandate in order for this to work from a financial standpoint…If Americans like the idea that they and their children cannot be deprived for a lifetime of health care insurance because of a pre-existing health care condition, then that will require some other action if that is to happen. And what would that be? There could be something passed in the Congress, similar to what we had originally in the House bill, which was a surcharge on the wealthy to pay for aspects of that … States can take their own actions.
