Was gonna show the shot of the half empty (or is thathalf full) Shott for the POTUS yesterday but this shot from that event, combined with the recent kerfuffle over "Julia" fills the bill better: and fwiw, my Donk voting in laws had tix for the event - didn't go, and were actually embarrased to reveal to me that they were on the guest list. We're winning. Slowly
5500
Topic: Movies
Interesting the order that movies are added to the Flickchart Db. Just so happens that #5500 was a recent add that I saw years ago and enjoyed. Came in a little high on my list at 625. Our "Kentucy truck driver moves to New York and makes it big as a writer" lead is James Franciscus. Good looking but never quite had the acting chops to make the A-list. A parade of attractive women try to latch on to him. Most notable are MY fave Suzanne Pleshette but alos of note are Eva Gabor and Geneviève Page. Not a GREAT movie but watchable for the performances and faces of the period. Keep an eye out for Martin Balsam and Werner Klemperer. Good, solid, entertaining, (LONG) story. Written by Herman Wouk, who also did Caine Mutiny and The Winds of War.

EVEN THE WAPO IS POINTING OUT THAT THE NUMBERS DON’T WORK: The Incredible Shrinking Labor Force. “If the same percentage of adults were in the workforce today as when Barack Obama took office, the unemployment rate would be 11.1 percent. If the percentage was where it was when George W. Bush took office, the unemployment rate would be 13.1 percent.”
Three steps back
Topic: Running
Since two steps back didn't work. The AH's are still aching and making me walk funny. I look like my dad after a hard day. It's sad really. "Time off" won't likely solve the problem. Is my running career over due to aging and an inability of my body to handle even light tasks? I don't even wanna THINK about that. So I'm backing off a bit. Cutting down from 3 miles per to 1. And I'll limit myself to 1 until I successfully run an entire mile without stopping. Which I MIGHT be able to do now, but I'm going to use the pod to do a slow build. 3m on 3 min off. Then 4, 5 and 6. Don't figure I'll be there yet. So then I'll go to 2x3 min on and 1x3 min off, 2x4, 2x5 and 2x6. Should hit it at either 5 or 6. At which time I'll step back one unit and add one mile and do the same thing for a 2 mile loop. And hope the pain goes away. Also increasing the Tylenol ... and might have the M T students take a shot at them

Bottom Ten
Topic: Movies
I'm casually making my way through my top dozen or so and occasonally make mention of recent screenings. Here's my current list of the 10 worst movies I've ever seen. I think. Not definitive, but all bad. 10. Me and You and Everyone We Know (2005) A lonely shoe salesman and an eccentric performance artist struggle to connect in this unique take on contemporary life. No redeeming value at all. 9. Brides of Blood (1968). I love B movies as much as the next guy, but this one didn't even TRY to make sense. 8. Rabid Grannies Gratuitous cannablism. Strike one. Poorly executed. Strike two. It's in French. Called third strike. 7. Pocket Ninjas Even worse than it sounds. Think "worst 'after school special EVER'" ... then make it worse. 6. Hangmen Really wanted to like this. Sandra Bullock's first film. It's a wonder there was ever a second. 5. Pledge This Paris Hilton. When I think softcore porn is bad, it's BAD! 4. The Notebook Gotta have a "mainstream" movie on the list. Plot twist visable within about 47 seconds. Bland. I actually felt sorry for Garner and Rowland. 3. Meet the Parents OK. Maybe two mainstreamers. Not a Stiller fan but he's usually at least average. And does Dinero need the moneyTHIS bad? Insipid and sophomoric. 2. Attack of the Virgin Mummies . More bad softcore. Really. The female leads real name is Noname Jane. 1. A Town Called Panic . Strike one: a bad precourser to the whole "robot chicken" thang. Strike two: the plot - from IMDB: Animated plastic toys like Cowboy, Indian and Horse have problems, too. Cowboy and Indian's plan to surprise Horse with a homemade birthday gift backfires when they destroy his house instead. Surreal adventures take over as the trio travel to the center of the earth, trek across frozen tundra and discover a parallel underwater universe where pointy-headed (and dishonest!) creatures live. With panic a permanent feature of life in this papier mâché town, will Horse and his girlfriend ever be alone? I need better drugs. Strike three? It's in French.

Dangerous Assumptions
Now Playing: Martini Shot
Topic: Football
Good article over at DFL on Dangerous Assumptions The Q&D: 1.) Brandon Marshall’s move to Chicago makes him a “must own” player 2.) The 1.1 rookie pick is guaranteed to net me an instant stud 3.) Eric Decker is going to be a borderline WR1 4.) Jamaal Charles and Adrian Peterson should be fine at the start of the season 6.) The “experts” are usually right about rookie prospects 7.) First round receivers are good bet for production 8.) Aging veterans don’t have much value 10.) We know really quickly if a rookie player is a bust. You may have noticed I skipped two. Here they are: 5.) Making multiple bad trade offers won’t affect my perception as a coach This one I love. Many leagues have that one guy who seemingly disrespects everyone’s intelligence by repeatedly sending horrible trade offers, with the hope that one will somehow be accepted.* *News flash – your league mates think you’re an idiot. Personally, I get upset when I get offers like a third round pick and Donald Brown for Ray Rice. I want to crawl into cyberspace and appear on their computer screen to remind them that I KNOW WHAT I’M DOING. Some say it’s up to the other person to just decline and move on. However, when this is done repeatedly over the years, these coaches get the perception of the team just trying to rip off the league.. Ringing any bells? And my second favorite: 9.) Being a dynasty commish is only an in-season job I saw one person on a message board saying they loved being a dynasty commissioner and it wasn’t bad because it was really only hard work for 17 weeks during the year. Say what!?! Being an effective commissioner in a dynasty league is a job with no offseason. The best ones are always in contact with the league to make any applicable changes, walk them through the rookie draft and deal with any impending issues or improvements that need to be made. If I was ever asked to join a league with a commissioner who views their responsibilities in the same way they would a re-draft league, I’d run, not walk away. I like. My guys generally appreciate my year round approach and a coule even realize all the stuff I do - some if manditory, some of it eye candy. My current list of stuff going on: 1. Maintaning roster composition/auction/asset data in preperation for our 7/14 auction. 2. Manually moving our data from one provider (defunct) to our new provider. I'm "up to" 1999! MIGHT get it done this season. Not betting on it. 3. Revamping our graphics. Redoing uniform images and team banners for all 16 franchises. Already redid logos for implimentation on new site. Considering doing static team pages as well. 4. Learning the new software so when owners can't do something at the leat minute, I can. 5. Dealing with owners cutting or extending contracts of players they don't own or trying to traded players nobody else wants. 6. Running my OWN team which means putting together projections, assigning contract valuations, deciding who to cut and who to extend, how to handle the auction and what to do in the draft (which are 1 1/2 and 3 months away respectively) See. It's easy.

as we continue to scan the horizon for pilars of smoke Drum Scum: Occupier Strikes Female Officer in Head from Behind INVESTOR’S BUSINESS DAILY: Occupy’s Descent Into Mobbery Threatens Democracy. “After a day of mayhem, Occupy protesters have shown themselves to be little more than a dangerous mob. Democrats coddle them even as their outrages escalate. Criminal behavior has no place in a democracy. . . . Coddled by authorities, and openly supported by members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, whose members claim to advance its aims in the House and Senate, Occupy is an outrage. That any democratically elected political leader could support this fundamentally anti-democratic show of power is sickening.” related (and potentially making my life hell and costing me money) 'No Fly Zone' Over Chicago for NATO Summit

All Occupier crimes are completely unrelated incidents, because shut up.” Obama's Favorite Movement Shows the Police Some Love (Language Warning) MSNBC Promotes Admitted Radical, Anarchist, Anti-Capitalist OWS Organizer Obama endorsed Occupy Wall Street Violence at 'Wildcat March' and on a positive note of sorts: Ilya Somin wrote 2 years ago: Today is May 1, May Day. Back in 2007 and 2008, I advocated the idea of transforming this long-time communist holiday into Victims of Communism Day – a day of remembrance for the victims of history’s bloodiest ideology. This year, several bloggers are joining in an effort to commemorate the occasion. Jonathan Wilde of Distributed Republic deserves credit for organizing this effort. Here’s an excerpt from Libertarianism: What Everyone Needs to Know. Marxists say that if we want to realize social justice, we cannot have open markets and strong economic rights. Neoclassical liberals respond that if we want to realize social justice, we must have open markets and strong economic rights. If we care about the poor, the last thing we’d want to do is inflict Marxism upon them. In a hypothetical fairyland, Marxism might be much nicer. Too bad we don’t live in fairyland.
