Let's take a quote from a left wing darling - Nobel Prize winning physicist Richard Feynman:

It is necessary and true that all of the things we say in science, all of the conclusions, are uncertain, because they are only conclusions. They are guesses as to what is going to happen, and you cannot know what will happen, because you have not made the most complete experiments....

So what we call scientific knowledge today is a body of statements of varying degrees of certainty....

If Krugman is terrified at the idea of not 'knowing,' maybe he's the one who's against science.

The problem: the crossover SUV is built and assembled in Canada from parts also made in Canada.” Okay, this goof isn’t really about arrogance — arrogance and the Chevy Equinox don’t go together much — but about the difficulty government officials have in understanding markets. If Obama’s Labor Secretary can’t even figure out where her own car is made, how well can she understand the rest of the economic stuff she’s supposed to be “managing?”

But here's what a REAL tea party meeting looks like - and deep in a red state no less.

I'm a denier.  After the collapse of the UEA data over two years ago it seems to me that one after another part of the puzzle has collapsed.  But for the left it isn't really "science."  It's their religeon.  If the facts collapse it's ok because they accept the truth as an article of faith.  And this has been a rough week for the true believers.

First we had Dennis Byrne writing in the Chicago Trib (you know, THAT bastion of right wing claptrap).  

Today I am writing about religion. Specifically, about those who worship in the Church of the Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming. More specifically, about those who, as a matter of faith, believe that the science of climate change is settled.

These believers preach that mankind is steering the planet onto an irreversible and cataclysmic course unless we do something. They have engaged in a clever ploy of labeling those who disagree with their dogma as “deniers” and “anti-science.” When actually they’re the ones trashing science.

Let’s take the latest scientific research that demonstrates, again, that the science of climate change is too complex to lend itself to simplifications and claims of “consensus.”

Then Jonah Goldberg over at NR posed an interesting question: 

Why does the Left get to pick which issues are the benchmarks for “science”? Why can’t the measure of being pro-science be the question of heritability of intelligence? Or the existence of fetal pain? Or the distribution of cognitive abilities among the sexes at the extreme right tail of the bell curve? Or if that’s too upsetting, how about dividing the line between those who are pro- and anti-science along the lines of support for geoengineering? Or — coming soon — the role cosmic rays play in cloud formation? Why not make it about support for nuclear power? Or Yucca Mountain? Why not deride the idiots who oppose genetically modified crops, even when they might prevent blindness in children?

Some of these examples are controversial, others tendentious, but all are just as fair as the way the Left framed embryonic stem cell research and all are more relevant than questions about evolution. (Quick: If Obama changed his mind about evolution tomorrow and became a creationist, what policies would change? I’ll wait.)

My top .... well, we'll see

1.  Alabama.  Non-conference.  PSU won't get it done.  Trouble spot - @ Florida 10/1.  @ Auburn 11/26 might be, but I doubt it.  The SEC won't LET it be.  See same game, LAST season.

2.  Oregon.  Again.  Damned ugly uni's.  Non conferece: @LSU  tonight.  It's this weeks "Game of the Year".  Otherwise they get SoCal at home but @ Stanford 11/12

3.  tOSU.  Call me Homer.  Badgers are the only threat and they hafta come to C-bus 11/29.  The trip to Nebraska 10/8 should be the biggie.

4.  TCU.  I shoulda written this last night.  They're gone now but they WOULDA been here if it were timely.  Instead let's say Oklahoma.  Mizzou, Texas and A&M all come to call.  

Rounding out the field:  Florida, Boise State, LSU (IF they win tonight) and Va Tech.

Setting the stage: A dozen years ago I did 3 mile workouts sub 24. If I need a time trial I could turn in a sub 21. Then I stopped racing. And a year ago I couldn't do a sub 36. That's only a brisk walk. Today I did a 29:48. Broke 30 for the first time in over a decade.

And a jump on the scales shows I'm down to 203. Sub 200 by Halloween? Don't see why not.

Off topic kinda - stumbled across a book called The 4-Hour Body.  Some interesting stretching/diet/workout stuff in it.  I've read it through.  Going back to pick out some good parts to start implementing.
