You are the one black mark on this wonderful multicultural world, doncha know? And it’s about time you admitted your malevolence, dang it!

Yes, it’s a “toxic cultural environment” we monstrous whites have created for our children… never mind that this is the greatest nation on earth, and all.

What with all the budget talk, I was just wondering whether that third war – or kinetic scope-limited whachamacallit – was still going. You remember, it was in all the papers for a couple of days. So I guess things have gone quiet because it's all wrapped up now? Apparently not:

Nato has said it strongly regrets the loss of life after a "friendly fire" attack on rebel tanks in eastern Libya which left at least four dead.

Earlier, a Nato commander had refused to apologise, saying that until Thursday's strike, the alliance had not been aware the rebels had tanks.

Ah.

Well, these things happen between allies, especially when allies in the air aren't aware their allies on the ground have tanks. But how about the general outlook?

The battle for Libya is heading for deadlock, a top general said Thursday.

U.S. Gen. Carter Ham, who led the coalition air campaign in Libya before NATO took over last week, said it was unlikely the Libyan rebels could beat Col. Moammar Khadafy.

Asked at a Senate hearing about the chances that the rebels could reach Tripoli and oust Khadafy, Ham said, "I would assess that as a low likelihood."

He said the situation was becoming a stalemate.

As reported by ABC News, what started out as a program to hold unclaimed property, such as the contents of safety deposit boxes owned by people who have moved away without a forwarding address, has gone wildly out of control. The program is now using the flimsiest of excuses to drill safe deposit boxes and sell the contents, often for below-market value, the proceeds going to the state’s general revenue.

In a case reminiscent of the Monty Python organ donor skit (or perhaps the movie Repo Men), a San Francisco woman’s jewelry appraised at over $80,000 was sold even though she lived a few blocks from her bank, had not moved, and was current on all of her box rental feeds. In another case, a man’s retirement savings consisting of $4 million of stock certificates were sold; and “A Sacramento family lost out on railroad land rights their ancestors had owned for generations”.

My few readers are fimliar with the Pigford Problem.

There are now TWO math problems instead of one.

First: assume EVERY black farmer in the US was "wronged" by the FDA and entitled to recovery under the Pigford settlement.  Initially there were 400 plaintiffs in the class action and it was believed there would be about 2,000 recipients. There were about 26,000 black farmer in the US at the time. There have been over 90,000 claims filed.

Bed enough.  Generally speaking and across all ethnic lines the breakdown of male farmers to female farmers is about 86/14.  But OVER HALF  of the applicants have been female.

And in this time of gub-mint waste and examining gub-mint spending we're told to pay no attention to that elephant in the room.

If reparations are due, and I am in no position to argue they are not they are due to those that were wronged .... NOT to the 64,000 who are trying to scam the gub-mint and game te system, MOST of whom are female.

You know those folks who always reject any study which does not comport with thier world view by attacking the funding (NOT the science)?

CBS and the Washington Post have both taken large payments from Obama’s Early Retiree Reinsurance Program (ERRP), with the Post getting $573,217 while CBS has received a whopping $722,388.

Howard Gleckman, as wise a vizier as Jafar, who advised the idiot potentate in the Disney film Aladdin (which is quite good, run don't walk to watch it now!), sees darkness visible:

"A shutdown can be, depending on whose exempted or not, pretty significant to all of our lives, absolutely," said Howard Gleckman, a resident fellow at the Urban Institute. "People don't think about how much it is that the government does for them. There would be no planes if it weren't for TSA and air traffic controllers. And as far as Social Security, somebody actually has to run computers to make sure checks run."

Thank gawd for sleeping air traffic controllers, sez I. Is there anything they can't do? As a matter of fact, Gleckman is wrong about Social Security checks needing human hands to be processed (though that does sound like a great jobs program). More here.
