~the links~

feel like meeting fellow otaku? come on in! the water's fine! sometimes we can choose the path we follow.
sometimes our choices are made for us.
and sometimes we have no choice at all.

The problem with links pages is that sometimes, the webmistress/master forgets to check them regularly and then newbies are stuck clicking on either dead links or they find themselves on sites that haven't been updated in eons.

I know of what I speak because I've run into many such links pages during my intrepid net surfing escapades. >_< So I am now whittling down my links page because several of the ones I had up here were a bit outdated. If you were one of the folk whose page I deleted, please don't take offense. Just drop me a line and let me know that your site is back up and active and I'll be happy to put it back on.

~friends~
slapshotmonkey - the band. the myth. the legend. true punk never dies...

it's all about kaiki - How could I have gone so long without posting this link here? Kaiki is my goddess! My guru! My saviour in all things web-related! She inspired me (unbeknownst to her, poor thing!) to get my master's degree in education with emphasis on web design and technology. And she's whacko-insane funny, yo! Plus her site is pretty, pretty blue! ^_~ You'd be a fraggin' idiot not to check out her little corner of the web...

Breakfast Bagels - A paean to the Buffster, this site is elegant and erudite and eclectic, and it's run by one of my fave people: bagel. I'd been seriously lax in putting her link up because I'd gone through a Buffy hiatus for a while, but now I attempt to repent my transgressions with this shameless plug: go to her site! Go now! She has the cleanest, sparsest layout I've seen yet (and that's a compliment coming from me!) Even if you're not a Buffy fan, it's still worth a look.

hanami gumi - I debated and pondered and debated some more and ended up deciding to put this here, under "Friends". Because Rence is my friend and rightfully belongs here, although a case can be stated for putting her under "Anime" as well. This gorgeous site is Rence's contribution to the anime community - a community which I've grown to know and love. Hers is also the most comprehensive site I've visited that truly covers everything anime: from reviews of manga and anime to tutorials on IRC channels where she can be found welcoming baka like me with open arms. I *love* this site. What are you still doing here? Go visit Rence now!!! And tell her Keelan sent ya!

the can of ice - A breath-taking site by one of my ex-students. She's amazing, engaging, and chock-full of Harvard witticisms and observations. Plus, she's got an enviable layout which I tried vainly to bite off and failed miserably since I don't have Photoshop. Go here and be stupefied!

~koko wa greenwood~
imo-girl's greenwood page - Holy shnikes! This is by far the best Greenwood site out there. Considering Greenwood is such an obscure anime title, this site was a blessing for me when I first got interested in Mitsuru, Shinobu and the gang. And Imo-girl is the nicest person you'll ever meet, even if she *is* a Stanford alum! Go here to understand a little more about Greenwood and to get some background for when you read my ficcies.

~anime~
Lord Carnage's Cursed Fanboys! Page - New to anime? Don't know where to begin or which to choose for your first viewing? Lord Carnage has a most comprehensive review site. And he pretty much has the same tastes I do. His site loads pretty fast and his ratings system is spot on, yo! Scroll to the very bottom of this page and click on "reviews" (tis a bit miniscule, but that's my only beef about this site!) Go here, all ye anime virgins! I guarantee you'll be hooked!

Anime Meta Review - To be frank, this is the site I go to first when I need to research anime. Carnage has all the pictures but loads slower. Meta Review and the wonderful man who runs it (heyla, Andrew!) has simpler format but updates faster. Plus, Andrew has a goal I can admire and emulate: to watch *every* anime out there ever made! Yatta! Not only that, Meta Review usually reviews obscure anime - first heard about Saiyuki here - before anyone else does. So I recommend Meta for quick fixes and have another screen open to Carnage to check out pictures. Now go read more about anime!

~comic books~
Blue Monday - Wonder where I got my icon for my live journal? Wonder no more! I fully ripped off Blue Monday, the coolest independent comic book out there. Not only is it written by a girl and fellow Southern Californian, it's a nostalgic look at high school life in the 80s. But no big hair here! Only Vespa riders and cool cats need apply. (Reading this book was also how I developed my fixation on all things Irish...read it and find out why!) Clover and Bleu rock my socks!
