Top of the Day/Week!

I fell back into bad habits of not being able to update my webpage sooner than a month. Oh well, please bear with me as I keep trying to do better.

It's been an exciting month as my first short story appeared in Long Story Short and even more exciting receiving my copy of The Voice with my Pleasing God 24/7 column in it. I've heard from many wonderful friends commenting on my story and that means so much to me. Since then, I've already submitted my PG 24/7 column for March and am starting work on my April column. This experience has been enriching both for me and for my candidate. I learned from my last candidate that after reading my spotlight on her she feared she couldn't live up to the person I wrote about. She's so modest. I wrote about her! Anyway, she inspired me to get back into Precept and my article on her inspired her to recommit herself to Precept. God does work His magic through all of us, doesn't He?

Any day now, my short fiction piece, Falling into You will appear in Long Story Short. I can't wait. It's so exciting! Then come April, I'll have stories in Applecart and e-Clips. Yay!

My ESD gang and I submitted our humor or human interest entries to the Erma Bombeck contest ended on 3/18. It'd be so great if two of us could win, one for the humor and one for the human interest. I don't know how the judges are going to choose cuz among us, it's already hard enough to choose a winner. Well, they're the pros so they know what they're looking for.

The dinner at the church turned out great. Roger Baker, the head chef, who I became acquainted with only that day as we worked together, was great. We hit it off immediately and worked together very well. Leroy Rosing and his family were there to help out and boy did they. Roger made the spaghetti and meatballs. He brought garlic bread. Leroy brought everything you could think of to make a garden salad and a variety of tropical fruits for a fruit platter. He also brought an assortment of Hostess treats. The Rosing family set up and decorated the tables and did everything else in between freeing Roger and me up to concentrate on just getting our contributions cooked. My contribution was creamed corn. Keep in mind we were told to make enough for 55 people. Roger's largest party prior to this was 25 and mine, when I actually cooked, was 12. So, 55 was quite a challenge for us. Everything took longer than expected considering the limitations of the stove tops but we met the challenge. Many asked for my recipe in the end.

There was plenty leftover so that instead of purchasing food for the Friday night men's kickout dinner, they were able to feast on our leftovers. It all worked out great.

That's it for now. May life be good to you and the warmth of the sun always shine on your face. Have a very happy day!

I will eventually be adding a travel log to this site but in the meantime, check the Travel page for a list of our latest excursions.

I finally have an update to the Donna forum question. Take a look at the bottom of the forum page. I also touched up the current week's question so be sure to read the whole question. A complete list of responses to the Donna question is ready now.

We took 15 rolls of pictures and over the course of the next few months, we'll try to get them online to share with you....one of these days. ;-)

What's new?

Check out the Travel page for a list of our Hawaii trip excursions. Check out the new recipe added. I received this recipe from my girlfriend, Lily Lee, who says this is her favorite dessert recipe. I've had her strawberry swirl cheesecake and it's totally yummy so I know she's a great baker. I can't wait to try this out myself. :-)

Quotes of the Week
