When Kelly was in kindergarten we heard about a father/daughter program being offered through the YMCA, called the Y-Princess program. It was for girls in K-3rd grade and their dads. When I called the Y for information they put me in touch with three other dads in the same area where we lived who were also interested in the program.
The program was modeled on American indian tribes and the idea that the father was a teacher and mentor to his daughters. So new members coming in formed a new tribe and joined the larger community of other tribes. It was a lot of fun, each dad would host and event usually a craft at their house and then there were monthly and anual events as well. The pictures are from the anual camping trip with all the tribes or one of the camping trips we took with just our tribe.
