A little story to go with this one...I work for a rod shop/street rod parts supplier. We go to a couple out of town NSRA shows to vend. Our second show of the year is the NSRA Springfield, MO show. I'd never been before (just got through my first year with this company) and on the first day of the show (Friday), I found out they had a model contest. I couldn't resist not having SOMETHING to show, after all I didn't want to be there (to work) but I might as well have some fun. So at the show Friday I picked up a Beatnik Bandit kit. After the show was over, we made a run to Hobby Lobby. I picked up some supplies and an AMT '32 5-window kit.
We got some dinner and I headed back to the hotel for some kit bashing. I was up until about 11:00pm putting this together. I didn't think it was all that great, but it was still fun. Took it to the show Saturday morning. Worked the show all day and then Sunday. The show was almost over and I went to pick the model back up. I was blown away when I won a "dirty dozen" (top 12) pick, and even more so when I saw they awarded me "Best in Show!" It really made my weekend. Just goes to show you don't have to spend countless hours on something to get some satisfaction out of it.
