Life is good.
An uneventful day as usual -- X-country in the morning. It was a 50-minute run, including hill workouts (24 times up a short hill) and an awful awful long hill after that. Allison and I finished first up the hill - I was about to die. It was tough.
The Emmy awards were great last night - even though a lot of people didn't like Conan O'Brien, I thought he was really funny. The Jennifer Aniston "love interest" part was the best.
And of course I watched Coldplay on Much I&I. Chris Martin is a cutie.

I just got off the treadmill. I ran for 30 min while watching "This is Spinal Tap". It was crazy - I didn't know Fran Drescher (aka The Nanny) was in it. The guys in the band wore sparkly eyeshadow and black eyeliner. tres 80's. My inner calf on my right leg has been really sore for the past few days... I'm assuming it has something to do with running. I have a habit of kicking the inside of my leg when I run on grass (off road) so maybe it is a bruise?? It's not discoloured though.
I babysat yesterday... the kids were well-behaved and their bedtime was at 8:00. So I watched the Miss America pageant. Ha. Ha. I was rooting for Miss Oklahoma, Miss New York, and Miss Connecticut. None of them won. :(

I love LOVE LOVE "If I could fall in love" by Lenny Kravitz... So so so so good.
I just had cross-country after school. We did hill-work... I pushed myself hard. We had to run up a hill 10 times in a row, then 6 times, then 4 times... We weren't allowed to stop either. We'd run up 10 times, jog back to the start, and then run up 6 times, etc etc. It was pretty brutal.
In English today, we had our Macbeth presentations.. I loved ours. Caitlin brought in this creepy seance music that was totally perfect for the scene. I played the part of the "Third Witch". woo woo. Here are my lines:
"That will be ere the set of sun."
"There to meet with Macbeth!"
"Anon!"
Plus I said it in a witchy voice.. and Em brought in face paint so we painted big green warts all over our faces. LoL. Getting ready for an early Halloween.
The only problem was, after class, when we tried to get the paint off, it left huge blue stains on our faces... Good thing we had school photos before English class. Hah.

School gets boring. I'm only in my second official week. ahh.
I got 27/28 on a french quiz though. Yay. Go me.
I had cross country this morning, but I got there 15 minutes late without realizing it, so I sat under the porte cochère for 10 minutes with three other girls before we realized that everyone else must have left. So we went for a run together - a 20 min run, not tough at all. But the coaches were happy that we "took the initiative" to go on our own. woo. go us.
Today is Mum's birthday.
I made carrot cake. It looks delicious.
Edith made nasty banana bread with lemon in it. It's really really disgusting-tasting. Naturally I had 2 pieces.
I've discovered you can take out CDs from the library. That is so great - you take out a CD, burn off it, and then return the CD and you have a copy. Unfortunately I only saw CDs like "The Best of Marlene Dietrich". still. If you're into that kinda music...
Go honky tonk.

Bonjour bonjour.
I went driving today in the parking lot of Centennial Park. I'm getting the hang of it... I only drove at about 20 km/h though. The thought of going faster terrifies me. ahh. I also drove through Thorncrest. That was not as scary as I thought it would be. And I drove home and parked in the driveway. I almost went into Mrs Henwood's ditch. Dad yelled at me. Oy.
I saw "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" yesterday -- it was so so so so so funny. The funniest movie I've seen in a long time. It was great.

I'm reading a really disturbing book: White Oleander. It's good though. It's a movie that is coming out soon too.
That's all.. I've got lots of homework.

Today after school I had cross-country practice. It was really good. I hope that I get quicker and quicker as the season progresses. I really enjoy running cross-country with my school - there are some really good runners who train with a club, so I feel like I am pushing myself to keep up with them (and I did keep up with them).
After practice, I went to a school BBQ... really fun. I had two hot dogs and many cookies from the decorate-your-own-cookie place. Mm. Good music too.

Such a sad day... My little school agenda has a picture of a red-white-and-blue ribbon in the upper righ corner of today's date. We had a special assembly for september 11, but i personally feel my school did a crappy job. If a random person had been dropped in the middle of my assembly and had not heard the beginning speaker say a few words about the purpose of the assembly, they might not have known what the assembly was for. It was one of those form assemblies - you know, the one that is the same each year on Remembrance Day (minus the poppy poem). Basically it consisted of a poem and a song. Plus a moment of silence. I'm not complaining though, because it's not exactly as if I wanted them to show us more videos of the planes crashing into the towers. That's the last thing I want again.

I had to do one of those career tests in Career Studies today... I get the results back in two weeks. Apparently it will give me some insight into what I should go into as an occupation. Sample Question:
What would you rather do?
(A) Make plastic teeth from molds
(B) Arrange names in alphabetical order
LOL. I'm not even kidding you. Of course, I answered (A). Hah.
Lizzy T slept over at my house this weekend and we went to see Blue Crush -- it is now one of my favourite movies.. Awww it was so good. If you haven't seen it, SEE IT. I want to learn how to surf.

First day of school today. Oy.
It turns out that my schedule is really good - 2 classes w/ Lizzy T and 2 classes w/ Em U. And I have a few friends in each class (so far). I had World History, Chem, English, and Bio today. In my history class, I'm one of only 4 grade 11's. Oy.
Did I forget to mention that the grade 11 locker room is in the dankest smelliest pitt in the school... The place usually reserved for the grade 8's + 9's, but where we got shafted this year. I can't believe it. It is already smelly and hot and claustrophobia-inducing. Yuck.
I'm thinking about running cross country this year instead of playing basketball. I went to a basketball meeting after school, and there were maybe 15 people there - not a big deal. But in every single one of my classes today I got homework - and it's only the first day. I spent an hour and a half doing homework today. That's more than I did in the middle of busy periods last year each day. So, running cross country takes up a lot less time. I don't necessarily want to race, but I do want to do some kind of extra-curricular sport at school... hopefully it'll all work out.

I just learned that Nick Carter received 10 million votes as the sexiest guy on earth on cosmogirl.com. Gag me with a stick. Give me a break. Maybe when he was, like, 13.
xo Liz
[5:14 PM][email]
Ba ha ha Nick Carter is on Much Music right now... oh lord. I have it playing in the background here, but I can't hear anything because of the 1000s of screaming teenyboppers in the background. Oy. He's like 30 and his voice still hasn't cracked. Plus he's wearing like 1/2 an inch of foundation.
I just went for a run while watching Trading Spaces. I ran 3 miles. Doug turned some poor woman's room into a bordello. No joke, it was "blood red" and had a picture of her in her bra and panties above the mantle. Ha ha. Doug is looking pretty old. He has grey hair.... or was he just dying his hair brown before? I don't know.

I'm just about to go out school-supply shopping with my dad. I love crisp clean new paper and binders and the organization that dividers bring... ok going overboard, but still. This is my favorite part of back-to-school.
I'm also going to go get a new library card. Woo hoo! (I'm not being sarcastic either... I'm excited. Ha ha)

School starts in 2 days... Dum dum dum.... (That's supposed to be omnious music).
I ran for 1 hour yesterday. I was on the treadmill watching the VMA's which I taped b/c I was away last week. Oh gosh. What was Miss Britney wearing? She looked like some freakin dominatrix. Not to mention Christina Aguilera. Her outfit was covering less than a micro-bikini would. I loved Jimmy Fallon though. Even though nobody laughed. Quote of the evening:
"Doesn't Michael Jackson look great for 44? Between you and me, I think he's had some work done." -- Jimmy Fallon

Bonjour.
I just got back from family vacation - a week in the Bahamas. It was so hot. I gambled at the casino even though I'm only 16. The legal gambling age is 18. Oops. I lost all of my money at the slot machines. I can see why people get addicted!! Not a good habit to get into.
I'm listening to my Moulin Rouge CD!! Woo woo I love it so much. All you need is lovveeeeeee... Love is just a game.. I was made for loving you baby... etc etc.

Cue the music. . .
Ceeeelebrate good times COME ON (doo-doo-doo-doo doo doo doo doo YEAH-HA!).
Why the theme song? I just got my Learner's Permit. And I went for a little drive this morning. So what if I only drove at 5 km/h. It was so scary!

I love CSI (Crime Scene Investigation) and Alias. I was watching a repeat of Alias on Sunday, and it's the one where Sidney is in a police chase because either the government or SD-6 is after her (I couldn't figure out which one). I was in awe - she drives her car off a pier, and stays underwater for half an hour. How, you may ask? She unscrews the air plug thing on her tires, and gets air by sucking the air from her tires. That's amazing. Sidney kicks ass.

bonjour.
Listening to Remy Zero "Save Me". In case you are not familiar with it, it is the theme song to Smallville (my absolutely favorite show). It's my new favorite song, along with Sam Roberts "Brother Down". Woo hoo.
I'm addicted to Morpheus. I love it. Currently sharing 382 files.

I like Joaquin Phoenix.
Merrill (Joaquin Phoenix in "Signs"): Morgan, this crop stuff is just about a bunch of nerds who never had a girlfriend their lives. They're like thirty now. They make up secret codes and analyze Greek mythology and make secret societies where other guys who never had girlfriends can join in. They do stupid crap like this to feel special. It's a scam. Nerds were doin' it twenty five years ago and new nerds are doing it again.

[4:28 PM][email] I like reading poems, but I hate studying poetry in school. There's just something about overanalyzing poetry until it has no meaning that ruins the whole poem.

Oh geez. Hi hi.
I'm listening to "Brother Down" by Sam Roberts... And I love it. To me, it sounds like the Beatles. (The background music, kinda).
Drivers Ed is so boring. Sticky hot, crowded, with red show-offy boys. Ba ha ha. One of them is red. I don't know why - he's scary. Liz and I laugh so much, and he called us giddy! The fart.
Liz came over yesterday for swimming and her pop picked her up on his motorcycle. Woo woo!

And another quiz...
 [4:32 PM][email]
A quiz...

[4:18 PM][email] Driver's Ed started today... snore.
Has anyone noticed that 90% of the time you get an email with the subject line "Do this -- this is HYSTERICAL", it ends up being the most lame-ass, waste-of-time email in your inbox. Just a thought.
Off to watch some "Batman & Robin".. Although George Clooney is a great Batman, nobody can beat Michael Keaton. NOBODY.

monday, august 5[2:05 PM][email] Listening to my new Dave cd now.. Right now: "I did it." I did another quiz, that's what I did.
 [1:00 PM][email]
You would not believe the extent to which I cleaned my room today. No, honestly. I'm the biggest pack rat but I filled up a whole laundry basket with my crap to throw out, plus two wastebaskets. I had a whole lego set in my room. When was the last time I used lego?? (erm... actually not that long ago, oops!) I had fun looking at my old creative writing assignments from middle school. They were so cheesy! I love it.
I'm listening to my Mum's Paul Simon CD "Negotiations and Love Songs"... Ny got me hooked on Paul and Art in England in July. Woo! Before that, I was only a fan of Paul's "Graceland" CD. This is a good CD, but it doesn't have the song Graceland on it, which is NOT COOL.. because that is my favourite Paul song. :(
Tomorrow, Driver's Ed classes start... woo hoo!
Happy Civil Holiday everyone!!

sunday, august 4[3:00 PM][email]
I'm taking Driver's Ed next week with my best friend Lizzy T. Whenever I think of "Driver's Ed", I think of Clueless (the TV show, not the movie), where Cher and friends take Driver's Ed as a school course... at least, I think it was Clueless... maybe it was some other show.. Ahh, peanuts. I love cheesy 90's TV. You know: Saved By The Bell, Breaker High, Clueless, City Guys.. etc etc.
My sister burned me a CD today -- it's Dave, Everyday, which I had been considering buying, but wasn't sure if I should, considering I have all of the songs downloaded on Morpheus. Hey, I'm cheap... :D
I love lazy days.

saturday, august 3[1:30 PM][email]
I like sunny days and fresh laundry that smells like lemons. I like Jimmie Dean, I like Marilyn Monroe in "Some Like it Hot". I like James Bond (Sean Connery, of course, followed by Timothy Dalton and then Pierce Brosnan.) I like Hugh Grant, especially in the movie "About A Boy". I like the book versions of movies. I like taking quizzes on the internet. In fact, I'm a quiz addict.

What prep label are you?

friday, august 2[2:01 PM][email] I woke up this morning with No Doubt "Underneath It All" in my head... But I couldn't remember the singer, so it was driving me crazy the whole morning until I remembered.
Have I said how much I love Beyonce Knowles???
How ya doin’, honey, baby
You know I don’t ask for much
But for a girl spendin’ time alone
Can be pretty rough
But I get a knock on my door
I know it’s yours for sure
We can’t wait for the bedroom
So we just hit the floor
I love it!
I bought a pair of Earl jeans yesterday afternoon... They were regularly priced at $220, and I bought them for $23. That is the cheapest pair of pants I have ever bought in my entire life. Peanuts, I say.

thursday, august 1[2:45 PM][email] I just got back from lunch with Em and Viv... We went to Shopsy's which was very very good with the exception of un petit peu of mold on my hot dog bun. YUM. Viv and I told Em a bit about our lovely July in England, and Em filled us in on what happened at camp. A very nice lunch indeed. I can't get the Alicia Keys/Eve song out of my head - "Gangster Lovin'".. Nice beats. :D xoxo Liz
