HOPWOOD OLD HALL (Added 14 September 2003. Source Manchester Evening News 11 Sept. 2003, pg 17)
Council chiefs have been trying to save the Grade II listed building which dates from medieval times.  Historians consider the old hall to be a fine example of an English manor house.  Refurbishment could cost £3million.   Rochdale Councillors have now agreed to sell a parcel of land next to the hall to raise the £150,000 to provide plans for bringing the building up to scratch.   The council would prefer the building to be used for education with open access to the public but this would need a major cash subsidy.  Other possible options are a developer turning it into a hotel or flats.

HOPWOOD NATURE RESERVE  (Added 30 January 2002)
If funding becomes available it is hoped to extend the Local Nature Reserve (LNR) near the college.  Some derelict land will be improved by creating new woodland and habitat appropriate to the LNR.  This will assist the longer term proposals for redevelopment of derelict and underused parts of the college site.
