The Canadian Volvo Club is a loose association of car lovers. The purpose of the club is to promote enthusiasm for Volvos. The club evolved in the late '70s when London, Ontario area residents Rick Guy and Fred Sleight began receiving newsletters produced by another Volvo enthusiast for Volvo hobbyists. In 1980 Rick and Fred decided to hold a car meet, which attracted a dozen Volvos. The meet became an annual event and the club grew. Today the club has almost 150 members, who receive a regular newsletter. The majority of members live in various parts of Canada; others live in the United States and a few reside elsewhere in the world.
