to return it, Jane finds it and assumes that it's an anniversary present

When a diamond broach is delivered to the flat, Jane thinks it is an
anniversary present from Dick. In fact it is a piece of stolen property
which is being returned to Dick’s insurance company. But Dick contrives

Dick's company have insured a full shipment of Silk coming from
Italy. He reads that the ship has been sunk off the coast of
Spain, but cannot understand why the boat should have sunk when
the weather conditions were favourable and there were no mechanical
faults.
Synopsis #2 (U.S.):
When Jane comes home proudly displaying a new silk dress from Italy, Dick
realizes that the material is part of a shipment supposedly lost at sea. In
fact, the insurance company for which he works expects to pay the owner's
