TWO: JOURNALISTIC PROTOCOL & FLY GIRLOkay I know I said I would do anything to soothe my nicotine need, but I stand corrected. I, Minerva Prescott declare that I will never stoop as low to serve a guy to get a cigarette or anything for that matter. And you can quote me on that. The nerve of the guy, asking me to walk his dog for a packet of cigarettes! I saw him drive out of the parking lot, smug and self assured like an over confident politician. He winked at me when we got to the intersection, but I just pushed my foot on the accelerator and sped off. If there was any time to say men are bastards, it comes now. Cos on top of that incident this morning, my boss has decided to transfer me to "Entertainment", because they're short staffed. I am in no way an Entertainment reporter- I write about the homeless on the street and what the community is not doing. I report on the state of our waterways. Hell, I even write about Mrs Lander's cat and it's kittens. But I don't do Entertainment. I've never believed in it and I never will. Call me a cynic, but I can't understand how actors or musicians can get so picky about getting something between 85, 000 or 84,999. To me, i reckon they should just grow up. But I have no choice. I start tomorrow, and if i don't i'm fired. Good riddance to men. "I'm tellin you Carter, she was perfect. A little peed, but totally edible" I relayed as Nick grinned knowingly. "You need a woman. And fast" He commented as the five of us walked off the van and walked through the large doorway of the studio. Another boring day in the studio. Another day indoors, I can't stand. It's not that there's anything wrong with coming in here. It's just that the sun looks so damned inviting, I hate passin' up a day at the beach to check out the merchandise. I was tellin' Carter about the feral chick at the twenty four hour convenience store and man, I'm tellin' you now, I'm still hot for her. There was definitely something about her. "Fly" Carter nodded. "Have her number?" "That's the catch" I grimaced. "She left in so much of a huff, I never got it" "From what you've told me, I doesn't seem as though you would have gotten it Bone" he grinned mischievously as I packed a punch on his arm. "But man, she was hot" I mused as I filed into the small door way which led to the recording studios in the building. My eyes must have lit up like lanterns on Halloween when I walked in because there standing in front of us was the fly girl herself. |
