THREE: Backstage Non Passes "Quit playin' games with my heart/ Quit playin' games with my heart, before you tear us apart/ Quit playin.." the last song trickled to an end as the Boys bid farewell to their star struck fans, waving frantically and "thanking" the crowd in their own way. Leaving the stage one by one, AJ winked at Nick who grinned wearily. "That’s not apprehension I see on Nicky's face is it?" AJ asked condescendingly, as if he were potty training a toddler. Nick glared at him, then shot him a wider grin, this time less self-conscious. "I'm more ready than you'll ever be" he stated coldly. "Nick, for your sake, I hope you will be, or it'll be the end of your Durango" AJ muttered as he walked down with the four to the meet and greet rooms. Several starry eyed fans eager to be the next "Mrs Backstreet Boy" sat chatted excitedly as they clutched CDs, t-shirts, magazines, posters and even a pillowcase with the famous quintet's picture imprinted upon it for the Boys to sign. Like Jekyll and Hyde, the Boys immediately turned on their "media charm" as the previous challenge disappeared like a dislocated chapter in the life of some one else. Nick chatted happily to a couple of his fans, whilst signing autographs, just like all the others did. He eyed AJ like a hawk though, waiting to read the signal for him to go forward and work his famous "Carter Charm" on AJ's chosen conquest. But AJ never looked up. "Man, hurry up and pick someone!" he hissed at AJ in frustration between autographs. "There are plenty of girls here…mind you there are a few I wouldn't mind getting to know a bit better" Nick said as he eyed a small blonde clad in a bright pink singlet top and micro mini denim shorts coming up to him. Automatically, he smiled widely, showing off once again his pearly whites. "Chill man, have patience… you can't rush perfection" AJ hissed back, a mischievous grin plastered upon his face, just like the Grinch when he stole Christmas. Nick rolled his eyes. If this was what he had to do to prove that he wasn't as neurotic as he seemed, then he guessed he had to wait a little longer. Two figures tiptoed quietly behind the blue curtain as they eased the heavy stage door open. Halfway through the second last song for the night, Caitlyn had the bright idea to "sneak backstage" to see the Boys. June stared at her friend in horror "NO!" she screamed loudly. But her protest had only drowned with the deafening roars and squeals of other Backstreet fans when Caitlyn had let her into her deceptive intentions. However, Caitlyn managed somehow to weasel June into her plan by successfully playing on the line "You only live once" So June had reluctantly obliged, following Caitlyn. "Psst…I wanna get outta here!" June whispered nervously, no doubt as guilt lay like a rotten apple yet to be disposed, while watching Caitlyn jump though the shadows. "NOOOO!" Caitlyn whispered back, as she grabbed her friend's hand tightly, almost crushing her fingers. "We are this close" Caitlyn pleaded as she held up her index finger and her thumb to show exactly "how close" they were. Caitlyn was right. They were right at the corridor of the meet and greet rooms, milling with excited fans, the Backstreet Band, PR, managers and security guards. The five most famous faces were no where to be seen. "Told you it'd be a waste of time" June muttered angrily as she slumped down on the wall, her black hair flying profusely in all directions. "Shhh….oh my god, it's AJ and NICK!" Caitlyn squealed in delight as she spotted the pair deep in conversation; where AJ seemingly emerged the victor whilst Nick shot him a dirty before they continued to sign autographs. "Man, I know what I'm asking Santa for this year" she sang happily. "Cait, I don't think Santa could give you a Backstreet Boy for Christmas, even if you have been a "good girl" all year." June commented, worried and fed up with her friend's juvenile behaviour. "Can we go already?" she whined. The last thing she wanted was to get caught and by the way Caitlyn had been acting, they may have well already been caught. " Nooo…not yet… I still have to figure out a way to get to meet them…" Caitlyn droned on. "Cait, no, it's too risky! Lets go back" June hissed in Cait's ear, as she tugged on her friend's fragile hand. The corridor to the meet and greet rooms seemed to have emptied out slowly as each fan trickled home, cherishing their moment of "Backstreet Bliss" Boldly, Caitlyn took a step forward, attempting to initiate the plan to meet the Boys, who by now had all emerged from various rooms, still chatting to the last of the fans. June still hung onto Caitlyn's hand, pulling her back. "June, let go" Caitlyn whispered angrily as she swatted June's hand away, just as June slapped her back childishly. They continued like this for several minutes, oblivious to the scene they were creating. Suddenly a tall shadow cast upon the two, the girls' fight forgotten as they reunited in fear. "Ladies, you're not meant to be here" the security guard's voice boomed. "I need to escort you out" The girls eyes widened, as the guard called up two other men with similar build in navy blue uniforms, complete with black men style boots and a security badge on the left breast pocket. "Ted, Harry…"Please escort these ladies out" the security guard boomed once more as the girls hung their heads shame facedly. "Wait" a seemingly young male voice called after them. Caitlyn's face suddenly dropped as she realised whom their hero was.
