The events of September 11, 2001 were immensely tragic and played a crucial role in global history. Now an ongoing war is waged in its name. It is therefore crucial to have full knowledge of what happened. However the incidents surrounding the attacks are highly obscure. This is not esoteric knowledge, it is a common issue outside of mainstream media.

A stream of warnings were given before the Sept 11 attacks that could have prevented the atrocities all together. Not only where they blatantly "ignored", the Bush administration withheld information and refused to allow a full investigation on the attacks, leaving many questions unanswered. There is documented evidence that has been leaked proving the Bush Administration was warned on the activities of Al Qaeda, the terrorist group accused of the attacks on Sept 11.

And yet, there are absolutely no ties between Iraq and Al Qaeda. The United States a waged unilateral war on Iraq declaring a "global fight against terrorism" on a preemptive notion that Iraq was a potential threat to US and global security. Strong claims were made that Iraq harbored Weapons of Mass Destruction, yet none were found. This war is morally wrong for countless reasons and illegal under international terms

To this day over 1500 American Troops died, with an estimate of 17,000-100,000 Iraqi civilians or higher-not counting the many that are injured and tortured, families frequented by house raids, people taken away to detainee camps and held without charge for indefinite amounts of time, which does not exclude women and children.

Returning soldiers are suffering from mental illness and others find themselves without shelter, creating another wave of homeless veterans since the vietnam war.

The quality of life in Baghdad has drastically declined to the worst in the world. Disease is rampant, and health care is in dire conditions. More children are inflicted with starvation and than ever. Once considered the most beautiful city, Baghdad lies in ruins.

And what is the real reason for going into war?

How much is it costing us?

There is no question that Saddam Hussein was a brutal dictator. The people of Iraq have suffered greatly under his reign. The Gulf War in 1991 and the sanctions imposed by the UN there after devastated the country even further. Iraq's militant extremists are niether free of blame. They have committed many ruthless and violent acts among innocent victims and continue to escalate the violence.

The brutality of this war ravages an already war-tired and torn nation beyond estimation. And is very likely to be worse than in Saddam's regime. It also gives terrorist groups the best oppurtunity to recruit more members and anti-American sentiment.

The war is far from over but neither is the fight.
