mission statement:

the Love is Love campaign raises awareness of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and queer relationships. love comes in many forms and it is important to feel that one's relationship is as valid as any other. by being honest and open about one's love, it becomes more and more commonplace and will open the doors to equality and tolererance. The campaign simply states "love is love" with images of boys and girls holding hands. maybe those who hate will have second thoughts. silence is the voice of complicity and education is the key to ending fear and ignorance.

the Love is Love campaign was started by a university of south florida student for a class assignment called the utopia project. the students were asked to imagine their own personal utopia and take action to make it happen. awareness is just the first step towards acceptance. The Love is Love image was used on fliers, in the student newspaper, t shirts, this website, broadcasted on local radio, and chalked on the sidewalks of campus. Since the image is derived from stylized boys and girls on bathroom signs, a flier was placed inside bathroom stalls on campus to confront people with the (positive) reality that there are people different from them, but also to comfort those who feel alienated. The bathroom stall represents how we are separated by gender and sexuality. Eventually fliers were distributed around other places on campus and even off campus. if this campaign enlightens one person it is a success. This project stems from the founder's memories of feeling alone and helpless while coming out and dealing with her sexuality when arriving at usf.

national coming out day is october 11th!

the use of stereotypical colors and clothing on the Love is Love campaign logo is intended to be a quick read. it is not meant to strictly define identity or gender roles.
